Your suggestions for forcing the Democrats to replace Harry Reid as Senate Majority leader:
Is it possible? How can it be done? Because it sure needs to be done.

3. What if he's replaced with a more conservative Democrat?

President Obama is the leader of the Democratic Party.

Not Senator Reid.

Obama can use the bully pulpit and lean on Senators, including Reid, to follow his lead.

And if Democratic Senators oppose his constant surrenders to Republicans they can certainly make their views known and begin to cut Reid's legs out from under him.

4. Obama sure didn't use his bully pulpit to try to get the cramdown legislation through the Senate
Edited on Fri May-01-09 12:05 PM by brentspeak
And Reid's legs have so far, for many years, not been cut out from underneath him.

5. Hey, it's government work. Failure is the goal. Just ask the banksters.
Reid has a job for life. That is, until Americans are fed up with the failure of the Democratic bankster whores.

6. They would have to check with the lobbyists!
Why bother. Bernie Sanders is the only honest guy, and he's not a Democrat.

8. Feingold, Sherrod Brown, Durbin, Reed, Kerry, Boxer...
Edited on Fri May-01-09 12:13 PM by brentspeak
...and others. There are plenty of honest Democrats. Normally, I would include Dorgan among the top of the list, but I don't know why he voted against the cramdown. He's usually one of the best Democratic senators on pocketbook issues, period. I'm going to call his office next week, and I'm very interested to hear what they have to say.

16. Yes, I did forget Feingold, and...
you mentioned Dorgan. He was one of my 'favorites', but his 'nay' on the banking foreclosure thing says maybe they got to him too!

7. When Reid became minority leader in 2005 there were 45 Democrats, in 2009 there will be 60.
I'd say congrats on a job well done.

But another senator is more than welcome to challenge him in 2011, but I doubt they go very far.

11. Sorry my mistake. I didn't realize that
he only gets credit for the negative things that happen during his time as Majority Leader.

How silly of me, I just don't know what the leader of the Democratic caucus could have possibly contributed to our recent election victories.

12. Unless you can demonstrate how Harry Reid got Larry Craig to proposition an officer in a restroom
or how he persuaded George Allen to racially taunt a college kid photographing his rally, among other things, you have an uphill battle in supporting your claim.

17. So if many of these elections went the other way
Would you consider Mr. Reid just as blameless?

My guess...probably not.

The fact remains that under Harry Reid's leadership the caucus has prospered and grown to historic levels.

You can choose to ignore that if you wish, but its almost ridiculous to think that the caucus would throw out its leader after two huge elections.

Harry has a job as long as he meets the expectations of the senators who chose him as their leader. And the whiners, well they will jobs as long as there is whining to be done.

and then we will all rise up and push him out as we "move-on" and let folks like heney and Yoo and Bybee, and Rumsfeld and Feith and Rice take a walk.

I do not support trying to replace him.

26. I don't think MOST Ds are really Rs - maybe a dozen or so. But that's enough to hurt us badly.
I do wish more people WOULD support replacing him. The game he's playing puts the Republicans in charge even when they "lose."

20. Unless something serious happens the earliest he could be replaced would be...
the beginning of the next Congressional Session starting in 2011.

21. vote Harry Reid out of office.
It's that simple. If it means voting for a republican, do it. Having one more republican vote is less dangerous, IMO, to our country's health than allowing Harry Reid to serve in a position of leadership.

24. He's a horrible leader. I can't even hear him when he talks.
He looks like his own shadow frightens him, and sometimes acts like it too.

I honestly don't see what good qualities he brings to the table.

Reid is a wimp. He should be replaced by Barbara Boxer or Durbin

I would like to remind people, that Dawn Johnson has already made it out of committee, yet this wimp has yet to schedule her vote.
