Despite all appearances and my natural cynicism, I am keeping hope alive on this one.

Appointing an IC is so clearly, obviously, indisputably, no-fucking-brainer THE thing to do I just cannot believe it won't get done.

I don't think this will blow over. Doing nothing cannot be a serious option.

IT'S JUST TOO OBVIOUS.

I'm not a flag-waving fan of Obama but I generally support him and recognize his good qualities, including intelligence. He will come around on this because doing nothing would be, in Talleyrand's famous phrase, "worse than a crime, it would be a mistake."
