DU Politics Poetry Jam - "Lay down "
Edited on Mon Mar-30-09 08:48 PM by FrenchieCat
Lay down under your bed,
and just say screw it.

restoring the economy is part confidence,
but no one's got any of that to spare,
just got a few measly coins for some change.

It's pretty obvious by now,
no matter what Obama does,
he apparently loses.

If he lets the Financial institutions fail, we're over,
If he nationalizes them, the stock market crashes,
and investors flee with their hair on fire.

If he carries out his own plan, he's damned,
cause everyone who believes themselves to be smarter,
hold the only positions that matter.

If he fires an Auto CEO, he's wrong,
but if he had fired a CEO banker,
he'd be stronger.

If he offers up a big stimulus plan,
the GOP die on the spot,
and the media act like snots.

If he offers up a smaller stimulus plan than not,
liberals slam him with their pot shots.

If the market is down, we're depressed,
and If the market is up,
it's a lark, don't trust it.

If he offers up a great big budget, the conservadem holler,
the Republicans whine, and we collectively yawn at it.

If he carries out his promises, he's stumped,
cause he should do X, Y, and Z instead, they demand.
If he doesn't carry out his promises, he lied,
and there's no way around that, you whine.

If he tries to go over the head of the media, they have fits.
If he goes through the media, they distort his message to pieces.

If he laugh, it's not funny.
If he is serious, it's boring,
If he snickers, he should have been caring,
If he scratches, he should have been sneezing.

He's a socialist,
no, he's a corporatist,
no, he's a centrist
no, he's a wall street pimp,
no, he's a tax and spend liberal whore,
no, he's a global trade hater,
or he simply just is,
a pragmatist free thinker.

He's doing too much,
but not accomplishing quite enough,
or his hands are tied,
and his road looks rough.

But it doesn't matter,
Because he should have done anything that he was going to do today, yesterday.
so he fucked up not only due to today,
but because of the day before that day,

and just thinking about tomorrow,
we are for sure that is already lost,
and some of us weep in sorrow at the cost.

I invite him to be our whipping boy,
for all that's wrong,
and let's make sure to ignore
all the good that he does.

In fact, let's just dog him out 24/7
so that we all can feel better,
since most of us are waiting to be saved,
and we want what we want when we want it,
and we demand that it be announced
at the next major presser.

But of course, this is not aimed at you....
I'm just a bit tired of the erupting boohoos,
The tantrums catalogued on a minute by minute basis.
I understood that Americans are generally reactionary,
but this is ridiculous,
(Of course, not you).

So crawl under your bed, and bring your computer,
and understand that this President,
for worse or for better,
will be in our faces,
working harder than ever.

And yes, there are many,
who will not be happy,
unless and when,
it is said,
that this President failed.

But after all is said and done,
and we all see what has come and gone,
Politics is the art of the possible,
and because this brother's got skills,
which are always discounted,
you may just wake up, and dayum!
it will be a new day, one that's better!

But all Americans
should be forewarned,
and should be prepared,
that for four more years,
this President is ours.

2. I keep changing it!
But it certainly is the portrait that
this unreasonable country full of division
and ill will is painting.

9. The boogey boogey man's coming.
And my heart goes pitter
patter
at the thought.

He hasn't got a face
he
might be Romney
Palin Jindel

Sweet Huckabee of mine
(The charmingest boogey boogey man
ever picked a boogey banjo
with wicked glee)

The boogey boogey man is
coming
to take it all away
ohh me
ohh my !

Someone says
"It"- boogey boogey!

And that's it

It's all over.

Boogey Boogey Boogey

"Stop it!"
"Stop saying it ain't so!!"
"You'll ruin it all !"

The boogey boogey men are coming
to get us
and "You People" has shown him the way...

ohh me
ohh my ...

(Credit for the repetitive "coming to get us" goes to an idea stolen from a Dead Kennedy's song.
You know, the band that Al Gore's wife Tipper essentially killed with her PMRC witch hunt...
And people wonder why Nader got so many votes that "should've" gone to Gore...)

But driving a cab in Oakland for 10 years... I've heard some bits of this and that...

Hell.. I've turned rappers on to Johnny Cash (I'm hoping to stumble across the samplings on KALX)...
