What President Obama is doing is magnificent.
It's not about the money folks got to see that as a side issue. The important change here is President Obama is changing the whole of American culture in a good way.

The main change Barack is working for is igniting every citizens compassion, from the wealthiest CEO to the homeless guy on the street. People were looking for the most obcious change the economy but in the end it's far greater than that and longer lasting. It might not be apparent today but down the line, we'll all be waking up in a whole new world.

1. I Was Shocked That in a Recent Poll in DU
Such a large number of posters were either angry or not happy with Obama so far. I am as delighted as you are. And he seems serious about actually accomplishing these things, not just making symbolic proposals.

2. Current poll - 87% approve; 8% disapprove

I was surprised by the results. From the recent tone on DU, you would think otherwise.

from top to bottom there will be less chance of anyone being exploited to begin with and people will instictively see the need for regulations that help people in their everyday lives. Maybe things will get tough maybe things will get better but if a general sense of decency prevails the ride will be a lot smoother.

5. Me, too! I am SO proud of this president.
He has so many things going and so much enthusiasm in his people, it is uplifting. I was just at the WH site and thought...how refreshing. This guy really means it about being open to the public, inviting people to be part of history, making us all feel welcome -- Republican or Democrat.

If you don't think so, back up 3 months to the end of the Bush administration. What a contrast.

Obama is leaving George in his dust.

7. Of Course It Was an Unscientific Poll
but it reflected senitments on DU. There may be a silent majority here that is just as delighted with Obama as I am, but that is not representative of the discussion here. There is a definite disconnect with the rest of the country.

I had difficulty finding the poll in question with the search function. If you can locate it, let me know because I would like to see the final results. It's often the case that

11. No, its not that. I just think we need to focus on the fact that his budget
is profoundly the boldest most leftist one ever proposed in a long time. I am excited for that.

10. I think he is doing a very good job and is a very clever intelligent man
I know there are many pure leftists on this board. They are very adamant that no one in the Obama administration be tied to big business. They miss the big picture: Obama's budget proposals are so fundamentally trying to change the system. They are bold and more to the left then anything we had before. Wall St. are a bunch of babies and won't play unless offered something in return. However, Obama is seeking power in the Treasury Dept. to seize firms not just banks. I believe he will nationalize where needed.
