I wrestle with these issues every day...by the time an issue reaches my desk, it is a hard issue. I believe it is very important to have strong moral, ethical guidelines when it comes to stem cell research or issues related to cloning or human life sciences. I wrestle with it....guidelines we provided meet that ethical test. For embroyos that are about to be discarded, we should use those to find cures for Parkinson's....it is the right thing to do. It isn't only my opinion, but also those who are against abortion....I am happy to avoid controversy if this is where science leads us.

Not easier, but just as necessary. Don't know what Israeli government will look like, or what Palestinian leadership will be--but we must foster 2 state solution. Assigning George Mitchell signals we are serious and plan to move the two parties in that direction.
