The Bonus Tax Law vote split the House Republicans nearly in half.
It's important not to overlook this aspect of what just happened: GOP discipline broke down, and their program of solid obstruction stalled out in the face of popular anger.

87 Republicans voted with their leadership. But the other 85 Republicans blinked and voted with us instead.

85 Republicans voted for a 90% TAX to be levied against Wall Street executives. Did you ever think you'd be reading a sentence like that? Let's savor this for a moment.

Even if we never see a dime of that bonus money again, even if this particular legislation is flawed -- what that vote did to the GOP today makes it totally worth it.

It's a hell of a precedent and a nice way to frame "tax cut rewards for the highest income earners" now that the punters have some idea about just who some of those income earners are.

5. This is huge. It could be the beginning of something fantastic.
Let's keep our fingers crossed people. Or pray. Or light a candle. Or call those republicans and tell them you appreciate their votes. Yeah, that's it. Call them and thank them.
