Speaking at the International Association of Firefighters Monday afternoon, Vice President Biden cracked one of his trademark jokes – and quickly followed up with a message to the national media.

“It isn’t about, you’ve heard this trite phrase, Democrats and Republicans – hell, some of you guys are still stupid enough to be Republicans,” Biden said with a grin.

“That’s a joke,” Biden sternly added. “I say to the national press: they clapped. It is a joke. It is not a gaffe. It’s a deliberate joke.”
