Michelle Obama on Paula's Party in a few minutes
Right NOW on Food Channel. This is an older episode - it was on last fall, too.

The description just talks about Maury Povich and Connie Chung being guest, nothing about Michelle Obama.

10. Yep, you're right.. I just checked.. it comes on here in a couple hours..
.
.

The description says "Michelle Obama stops by to chat about her family's favorite meals on the road, and her husband's skills in the kitchen"

I'll have to catch it later..

I didn't know our president had "kitchen skills"

4. Really? I like Paula. She was left by her husband with no means to
financially support herself and then decided to open a restaurant and it went from there. She is very down to earth and was extremly nice to Michelle when she came on. Yes, she is from the south but not all people from there are "bad". I say that as a yankee from Connecticut!

12. hahahah!!!
Yah - like the reason I can't stand her is because she's southern. Riiiiiight.

14. Not per se. I'm a Bourdain-kind-of-guy, would be the shortest way of putting it....

15. Ah, I see. I love Anthony Bourdain as well. But Andrew Zimmern is my favorite.
The guy will eat anything.

16. she started making her sons go sell bagged lunches she made in her house.
I believe she couldn't leave her house for awhile, if I am not mistaken. agoraphobia or something.

24. And she managed to support her kids despite her agoraphobia.
I like her a lot. She's fun and uplifting.

What the heck does the South have to do with someone being likable or not? And this comes from someone from "Joisey".

:D

7. But Paula is a good Democrat - she did a show with the Carters
And this one with Michelle.

Her cooking drives me nuts - all that fat and high calorie stuff and poor nutritional balance.

But she reminds me of my Home Ec teacher so she is a reminder of my youth. Otherwise, I probably would never watch her.

3. I can't stand her either, so I think it's good Michelle's stepping into different demographics....
no sense in preaching to the converted.

25. Mookie, what you got against Paula?
She's a nice lady and an example of how someone can lift herself and succeed through ingenuity and hard work. She's a good example to people and not just women either.

:hi:

11. Paula is not as clever or side-splittingly witty as Ann Richards, but
Edited on Sat Mar-14-09 07:04 PM by lunatica
she reminds me of her. It's that friendly and open personality that also loves to laugh and make others laugh.

23. I like Paula too.
Her food is deadly (she adds a stick of butter to almost everything), but the lady is a joy and her laughter is infectious.
