McCain: Rush 'a distraction' (LOL Headline)
McCain: Rush 'a distraction'

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) said Sunday that the Rush Limbaugh dust up this week has been "all a distraction."

"I think it's all a distraction," McCain said during an interview on Fox News Sunday. "Mr. Limbaugh has his audience and his base of support around the country, but the important stuff is what we're talking about right now, job losses."

Limbaugh has criticized McCain numerous times over the years, but the Arizona senator chose to lay off an opportunity to take a shot at the radio host. McCain also made no mention of a Limbaugh's comment this week that Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Mass.) may not live long enough to see President Barack Obama's healthcare bill signed.

"The Democrats have made a lot of hay out of this, let's move forward," McCain said.

McCain's response is in keeping with the GOP counter-attack launched this week that is designed to portray Democrats as engaged in diversionary politics for focusing so much on the talk show host.

8. well
I think he meant the "Rush controversy is a distraction", not Rush himself, which seems to be the GOP talking point.

4. of course McCain would apologize for Rush
Edited on Sun Mar-08-09 10:05 AM by ErinBerin84
Chuck Todd said earlier this week that McCain "showed that a Republican can criticize Rush and still be the nominee". Right. Hadn't McCain pretty much mea culpa'ed to Rush by then, just as he did the Religious right? McCain is a douchebag. Whenever someone asks him about a Rush quote recently (like the "Was Rush right to say that the Colin Powell endorsement was all about race?"), he says "Um, I would need to see the context." Time for the media to stop propping up the myth of the maverick.

9. I think McCain is one of just a few repukes who could get away with this
I don't see McCain apologizing to Rush for criticizing him, nor would I expect him to. He's going to do everything in his power to get that "Maverick" status back. He knows he was the maverick who became a GOP lapdog during the campaign. I think he also knows it also made the election the blowout that it was.

10. how is he criticizing him?
This is what all the GOPers are saying this week, that Democrats are using Rush as a distraction from their "socialism", or whatever. He is not calling Rush himself a distraction for the Republican party. I would give him props if he was saying that, but he's not.
