Fewer hours. Lower pay. No benefits. Yup, we're prosperous and productive. Slaves to the machine.

1. Here's how they got 33 1/2 hours ....
Those fortunate enough to have jobs work 75 hrs per week because they're being worked like dogs to compensate for the people they let go.

Those who got their hours cut from 40 hrs. to 20 hrs.

and those who don't work ....

Average those 3 and you get 33 1/2 hours per week.

2. I'm in the 1st category, and am actually grateful for it.
How sad is that?

3. I'm below average
32 hours a week.

Company wanted another 3% pay cut on top of the reduced hours. Fortunately we have a contract so they could not impose the pay cut and the membership voted overwhelmingly to not accept a pay cut.

But I do what should actually be two separate jobs and get paid probably about $10,000 less than I should.

And it took me about a year just to find that much! I will say that I'm fortunate enough to have an HMO that I don't have to pay in to, which is good because I make so little, I can't afford to pay in to it. I consider myself lucky, even if the job is a bit crap. I'm just happy to have work.
