Ron Paul on CNN: Pigboy is "pretty sad."
Keep it up Pub kiddies!

Never in my life have I seen Repubs go after each other like this! They're breaking Raygun's 11th commandment left and right!!!

It is pretty sad that conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh has become the de-facto voice of the Republican Party, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) said Monday.

"I think it’s pretty sad," Paul said during an appearance on CNN Monday morning. "And it means that the Republicans are really starving for some type of leadership."

"He really didn’t broaden the base," the former Republican presidential candidate told the network's John Roberts. "I mean, it’s still very narrow, and that is why some of us would like to see an approach that would emphasize personal liberties and civil liberties."

*snip*

"I think a lot of people like to hear what he’s saying, but I think it’s also a little bit polarizing and confrontational, and I think that’s why the Democrats are bragging that Limbaugh now speaks for the Republicans," Paul added. "So I guess the Democrats think it’s to their advantage if he’s leading the charge."

4. Ron Paul
Is all for "personal liberties" as long as it doesn't extend to women's right to choose, gay rights, the poor..... Dr. Paul was just the anti-war theocratic, racist, homophobe that doesn't believe in taxes.

Nice to see the Republicans going after each other.

5. Is Ron Paul more like a libertarian? He really gives off that vibe.
And he also is a nut but even he recognizes that Rush will do nothing for the Repub party but make people more angry with them.

20. A lot of people have bought into libertarian economic ideas due to the fiscal crisis
And also, he's against foreign wars - more because he's an isolationist than anything else, but he's been the acceptable face of anti-war Republicanism. A lot of it's the economics though. Look even here on DU, and you see a lot of people railing about the federal reserve or saying we should return to the gold standard etc. I like austrian economists and think they have a lot of good ideas, but in the same way I like Marx and think he had a lot of good ideas - but I'm NOT a Marxist or a Libertarian.

Especially in matters of economics, when you go far enough to the left you end up colliding with the people who have gone really far out to the right. Extremists of both camps have a naive belief in autarky as an economic strategy and a flawed understanding of markets and monetary theory. I used to favor the abolition of capitalism and its replacement with something else, but then I grew up and realised that a well-regulated market economy is the best system overall (but not for everything, eg healthcare).

10. Yup, I find that most people who say they find Ron Paul "principled" are straight white men
let's face it, it's easy to agree with some of the guy's positions when you don't have to feel the brunt of the positions he differs on in your everyday life.

Privilege in action.

So yes, I agree with him that Limbaugh is pathetic. But I still don't respect him. And I don't see him as being any better than the majority of the Republican party.

33. It's a common view of libertarian males.
The crux of libertarianism is the right of males to own property. Women are the chattel of men, thus their wombs and contents thereof are also the property of men.

This is another nice little fracture int their base. And you know what? Paul sounds prophetic about the economy to these people, which helps drive their loyalty.

22. Not much of a prophet...
Especially since he's a proponent of the exact policies that brought hte economy where it is. He maintains that the current problem is -socialism- and -big government- ratehr than the total lack of either that it actually is.

Ron Paul is a perfect example of the Republican Party's old standby, "Government doesn't work; elect me and i'll prove it to you"

23. " A little bit polarizing and confrontational"?
Rush?

How about rabid and stupid?

The GOPs are so used to their own bullshit, they have no idea how far off in a corner they are.
They are finally beginning to get the idea that they lost big, but they still do not quite grasp why.

Ron Paul is all for personal liberties as long as everyone does what Ron Paul believes is good.

25. He's right. There is no one looking out for civil liberties
There are a lot of people out there that have NOT forgotten about the Patriot act and all the other shit tha Ashcroft did. After FISA no one is expecting the Dems to act like they give a damn. This is a big juicy political stance ripe for the picking. I hope the GOP keeps ignoring him.
