2. I am waiting for Republicans to react ... have they?
That interview was funny.
"Look how far I've come! I grew up in a racially integrated neighborhood, and now I live in a white neighborhood" is what it sounded like to me.

3. I started listening to Rush Limbaugh in the early 1990's...
Edited on Mon Mar-02-09 10:36 AM by CoffeeCat
...and I can tell you his typical cycle. It's similar to the abuse cycle that an alcoholic or child
molester inflicts on a family. And no, I'm not kidding and that's not overstating what he's doing.

Most of the time, Rush spews an endless staccato of lies and hate. He's like a big bully or abuser--
making fun of people who don't think like him--while constantly misrepresenting the views of people with him
who disagrees. He also spends an inordinate amount of time building up ridiculous arguments that he
claims are the views of liberals. Then, he tears them down--with an incredible amount of anger, hostility
and disdain.

He makes his listeners HATE liberals. He tells his audiences that "liberals hate America" and that
"liberals hate the soldiers" and that "liberals want more of our soldiers killed in Iraq". This is
not innocent entertainment--it's a liberal hate-breeding fest.

Whenever Rush gets media attention--or gets called on the carpet for his lies or his hate---he goes
into, "but...but I'm just an entertainer" mode. He also repeatedly says, "I'm just a harmless little
fuzzball."

It's just like a child molester or an abuser. He kicks everyone around and constantly pummels those who
dare to disagree with him. And the moment people start taking a look at how abusive and toxic he is--he
positions himself as the victim, or the "harmless entertainer" who is just a guy with a radio show!

Anyone who grew up with an abuser knows exactly what I'm talking about. First comes the brow beating---then
when you dare to stand up you get, "Can't you take a joke? I was just kidding! Why are you so sensitive?"

Rush Limbaugh is a sickness. He is America's abusive father--and the other abusers and codependents in this
country just love his brand of dysfunction. They love stewing in this toxic, unhealthy, hate-filled soup
because they are sick themselves. Limbaugh makes them feel as if their sickness is some kind of badge of honor
or sign of super-human intelligence.

That's the shtick. That's why others are suggesting that Limbaugh is an "entertainer". They're attempting
to rationalize Rush's abusive behavior--so he can move on to continue this abuse cycle another day.

4. Am I remembering correctly... once I read that he doesn't believe anything he says...
that he loves his job but has no respect for his listeners.
Is that correct?

6. If you listen to Rush...
Edited on Mon Mar-02-09 10:50 AM by CoffeeCat
...he spews the talking points that the Republicans want out there--but they just cannot say.

Most Republicans will not come out and say that Obama wants socialism. Some do, but most will not.

So, Rush says it for them. Repeatedly. He gets his listeners believing it and they repeat
the memes. Then, the call their Congress members (if that's what Rush orders). Rush is the
Pied Piper and his listeners are merely the mouths that perpetuate the lies and disinformation.

It's obvious to me--after listening for so long--that higher-ups in the Republican party give
Rush the daily talking points. All of the dirty lies and disinformation gets out there, while
the Republican politicians can look fine and upstanding.

Does anyone actually believe that Rush's song "Barack the Magic Negro" wasn't intended to stir
up racism and wasn't an intentional device for making the Presidential race about Obama's ethnicity?
It was totally deliberate. Rush knew there would be controversy. He knew the song would get
media attention. The Republicans love it when race is an issue, because they know that there
are many racists in their party--and all over the country--who will respond to such cues.

You can bet that Rush totally leveraged this tea-bag protest and pumped that up to be some
miraculous rising up of the people against evil. There are higher-ups in this country that
don't want change. It's a mix of political and corporate heavyweights--and they're attempting
to thwart Obama's efforts. Rush is just one big, fat way to disseminate the disinformation
and inject thoughts into the Freeper types.

As far as Rush not believing anything he says or not having respect for his listeners. I've never
heard him say that...ever. However, it is clear that Rush is a tool of this crime syndicate that
has it's talons in our government and in our corporations. Rush does what he's told. He spews
the talking points and dupes the idiots--like he's told. And he's paid millions to do it.

8. Standard repub dodge
"He's just an entertainer. No one REALLY listens to him!" What a knee-slapper!

Besides, I thought "entertainers" wouldn't be speaking at the GOP summit.

9. Fairness Doctrine
Entertainers don't fall under the Fairness Doctrine. It's a preemptive strike to redefine such idiots as Rush and Bill-O so they are "entertainers" as opposed to news analysts, who would fall under the umbrella.

I remember these tapes called "Faces of Death", that were just compilations of videos of people and animals dying in various disgusting ways. Rush seems like the same thing, to me. But that insults the tapes, doesn't it?

10. I call Rush, the Policy Maker!
That actually works better in our favor.

Calling him an entertainer dismisses him, and we shouldn't want that.....
Better for the extremists to look like just that!

12. Aw shucks, the homophobic racist who lies and bashes Liberals is just an obese court jester...
As pointed out here, that's always the excuse. Limbaugh even uses that line to somehow delineate his screeds. Yeah, he goes on for hours trying to character assassinate The Bogeyman (aka liberals) and tells his audience that the only way to survive is by letting the rich piss their money down on the poor and let needless wars continue. Like the CPAC crowd that got so stewed up about Limbaugh saying "all liberals wanted us to lose in Iraq" by chanting "USA! USA! USA!", Limbaugh spawns ignorance that is spinning in his drug-addled head to a willing group of people who let his lies pass or are too stupid to figure out his "game".

Yeah, he's just an entertainer. :puke:

rush has tapped into the smallest minority in the US. The seething resentful lower extreme of the IQ bell curve whose reptilian brain stumps rule their lives. The barely quasi self-aware. The kneejerk brigade who have finally found someone to tell them what to think and what to do in their world of endless foggy confusion. A man who understands addiction and brings it out in his followers by imbuing their brutish mental sloth with the energizing diet of rage. Ah! They feel alive now.
