I like Brian Ross. He seems to be an actual reporter in a news division gone Disney. He probably doesn't even get half of the stuff he digs up on the TV. But at least he and many others who are paid far less than him are doing their jobs for the American people.

On the other hand, you have the gilded class of Chris Matthews, Brian Williams, Katie Couric, and assface Charlie Gibson. They are paid to speak the party line. No, not Dem/Repub. They are speaking the corporatist party line, and rarely do they stray. Celebrity columnists fall into the same category as do often the editorial pages of WAPO, NYT, Wash Times, WSJ, etc.

OF COURSE they are going to rail against Obama and call it "CLASS WARFARE". I like what one person is quoted as saying regarding the middle ages. Something along the lines of 'read tales of lords and ladies having their homes burned and their heads stuck on a spike by the serfs. THAT is class warfare."

FAIR.org is very important to showing just how narrow is the focus of inquiry in corporate news. They don't even talk about the many who've been impoverished for much longer than this financial crisis. They focus on the "newly poor" and the acceptable poverty of someone who was just forced out of their home because they're upside down on it and both wage earners are laid off. Never mind the underlying social issues in this country with the millions who were already impoverished and the many homeless.

The powers that be found if they raise up the few "chattering class" to an elite and wealthy group themselves, they can control the message. They can manufacture consensus and strive to undermine presidential power when it goes against the interests of the very wealthy. Iraq war? Great! Pimp that story till the troops are in Bagdhad. anything after that? Who cares! WE'RE THERE! REforming health insurance and raising taxes on wealthy? MAN THE BATTLE STATIONS! Time to sink another Democratic president who actually speaks to our needs and desires.

It's sick. Sometimes I hate being able to see through the matrix.

2. i'm sorry. but I can't stand MSNBC trying to be a bit FoxNewsish
Yes, it's nice to sometimes have our ears soothed by a friendly message. That's why we were dying for Air America when they started. But now that we have a whole host of news outlets and Dems have power so that a lot of my concerns are hopefully starting to be addressed, it's time for me to say I don't want to go soft on a media soft head like Chris Matthews now.

I remember years of us being so frustrated with him as he told so many lies. And for GE/NBC, no less. It's nice to hear some of what we think actually uttered on cable talk tv, but it isn't investigative and confrontational journalism we need right now....it's just right/left blowhardism.

3. Chris Mathews has always been on the political elites' "A list" for expensive social soirees.
With respect, don't be fooled. Tweety serves the ruling politicos by keeping us little people either confused or at each other's throats.

He's NOT on our side BUT better than having a right winger hosting yet another program.

4. I agree......he likes to keep us off balance.....
For him, it's like he's having fun with us, at our expense.

The Elite Media really have shite on this country.
They are truly some of the worst offenders at treason, IMO.

5. I think it's worse than just his entertainment. I think it's BIG BIZ method operandi
My wife and I just rewatched "The Pianist" today, and it was interesting how the Nazi Gestapo could lie just enough to the Jews in the ghetto that some would cling to those lies and be "frozen" in place. Had everyone or at least 90% of them become firmly resolved that they were being exterminated, they would logically have had no other alternative but to at least put up some kind of organized fight.

The same way with every day people. If we sort of feel it CAN'T be such an organized and systematic programming of the American mindset and fleecing of the vast majority of Americans and those around the world just to benefit a small set of elites.....CAN IT???

6. True. Tweety showed his true contempt for us lowly chattering classes about ...
two years ago. He was getting many emails complaining about his commentary at the time and at one REVEALING moment he referred to those people within the net roots as "The Pajama Hudeen." That label I have always remembered as well as consider "a badge of honor." ;)
