Craig Robinson, First Coach
CBS Sunday Morning had a nice profile of the first brother.

He was accepted to both U of Washington, on an athletic scholarship, and to Princeton. He wanted to go with the scholarship, but his dad told him that money should not be the determining factor and he went to Princeton - as little sister Michelle did.

After graduating, he got a job in finance making a high six figures salary, but decided to quit it and to do what he loves - coaching basketball, taking a 90% cut in salary.

As I was watching this program, I was thinking that it would be nice, for a change, not to have family members of the first couple trying to benefit from that status.

1. Wow! I've never seen Michelle's mom talk.....
I like her! She's really down to earth keeping it real. Nice!

Thanks!

4. Both of them are articulate and were pleasant to watch
And it is nice that both the President and Michelle grew up with the message to study and to work hard. No "legacy" and entitlement that come with growing up in an "aristocratic" family.

3. They are in the middle of the standings and might just miss the NCAA Tournament
But he was rumored at one point to be a candidate for coach of the year, I'd root for him, but I am backing the Huskies for the Pac-10 title

5. The big dance is out of the question.

Unless the pull off some major upsets and win the Pac 10 tournament. I believe they were picked to finish at the bottom of the Pac 10 and if they can win a few games in a row they may make the NIT. Not a bad start.

Do you think he is trying to do that?

7. NO!
As much as I love Hillary and supported her, the two Rodham brothers behaved shamelessly during the Clinton administration. Do not remember the specifics, though I am sure others do.

This is I find coach Robinson so - dare I use the word "fresh"? - different in a refreshing way. So open and honest and decent.

8. Craig Robinson looks like someone I used to work with
So for sometime I have rooted for 'Bill's team' up the road instead of my 'home team', their sworn rivals. I know nothing of basketball and make such decisions based on arbitrary stuff like that.

9. i really enjoyed this story.
big momma is so proud yet humble when speaking about her kids. she seems equally proud of them both. her hair was sharp too. i like how 1st brother is still big brother. i like the emphasis on doing what you what you love instead of making all of the money you can. doing what i love is my idea of success. enjoy your success coach instead of the ulcer you were probably headed for. i am proud of the first family.

10. The nice thing about being poor at one time in yuor life and being content is going back to it is ..
...never life ending.

Taking huge salary cuts like they did to do what they love is honorable

11. I'm less idealistic than you are
I hope every Obama relative, foreign and domestic, uses their relational fame to forward a cause near and dear to their heart.

To whom much is given, much is expected.

I hope Michelle Obama makes military families the pinnacle of sacrifice or country asks of service people.

Why can't Ms. Robinson take elder care or some other issue that strikes her heart to a whole new level?

15. Obvioulsy, I was thinking of personal gains
As I posted earlier, as much as I love and supported Hillary, as I was watching the interview I could not help thinking of the Rodham brothers who were using their position for a personal gain - though I do not remember the specifics.

14. I saw that interview. It was wonderful.
I loved the story he told about how Michelle wanted her brother to play basketball with her new Boyfriend to see how he really is on the court!

Such a nice person.
