10. I was in Portland Oregon for the St. Helen's cookoff.....

That was some heavy shit......I sat in the parking lot of the bar across the street from my house on a chaise lounge drinking blended drinks and listening to Hawaiian music.

We had a GREAT view of the proceedings.

12. I was in Thailand but all of my relatives in Spokane took it straight on

as the cloud went directly east.


It was during a Sunday with commencements and it is now an ironic observation that graduates were receiving their degree when a huge cloud encompassed the sky, blotted out the sun completely and made it darker than midnight and no one had any idea what had just happened.

My granddaughter is spending a semester in Chiang Mai (sp?). She has had her ups and downs there but generally is enjoying the difference between their culture and ours. She lives with a family that speaks barely any english. She calls it her crash course in the Thai language! ha

I taught for two years, worked in refugee resettlement for 8 years and started a furniture factory that ran for 7 years.


The AUA used to have an intensive Thai course in Chieng Mai.
