I Succumb. Jindal is the Story.
President Obama met our expectations of exceeding our expectations. He proved, again, to be a steady hand, and a clear head at the wheel. We are getting from him what he what he has always been, a respectful professional leader.

Jindal is a joke, even worse than Palin. The future of the repukes are a sad group. They are splintering--Crist and Ahrnold are being kicked out by the young rabids, in over their heads. The trainwreck is a joy to watch, 2010 and 2012 should be fun.

The more we see of the exorcist, SSarah and Hip-Hop Mike, the better. Compared to Obama and the Dems, they look like infantile amateurs. They are the opposition voice. For every decision that Obama and the Dems make, one of them will be there to criticize. That doesn't worry me in the least.

4. but remember, while Obama has to travel down the road through the desert,
the "liberal media" will have plenty of places with free refreshments for the Repugniconvicts ...

10. I mused that to myself with Chimpy and Reagan.
And Jindal has twice the intellect of those two combined. I agree that he doesn't inspire fear but never underestimate stupid(voters).

15. I don't think Duh-bya and Ronnie could have gotten elected in the current 24/7 media environment.
YouTube and those pesky bloggers would have been a nightmare for those two. Just like they have been and will continue to be for Governors VolcanoLover and AvonLady.

9. Probably? This is the Palin interview Part II...
They don't even have to exaggerate anything. Just do a note for note impression like Tina Fey did for Palin, and the whole country will eat it up. Absolutely hilarious.

8. Jindal (and Palin and Steele) are the story because they are our political capitol.
Edited on Wed Feb-25-09 10:39 AM by rocktivity
We need them, and need to talk about them, because the thing we are now able to say is, "You can follow the Dems and Obama, or you can KEEP following the Rethugs and THEM!" And if you need a second opinion, ask Rachel Maddow!

I wrote:"...(He) came within 3.5% of winning a district that is 70% Repub. Do you honestly think he would have fared just as badly if the district had been 60 or 50 percent Repub?...If we get together and...multiply what Hackett did by fifty states, we'll win a LOT more often than we'll lose (in 2006)...Hackett has just dropped a sack of political capital into our laps..."

Last night, Jindal did the exact same thing. His robotic presence, bedtime-story oratory, ill-considered talking points and knee-jerk peddling of decrepit Rethug theories should be talked about as loudly and often as possible. Why? simply because they make Obama's performance and ideas look that much better, which in turn drives up his political capital.

Pointing out the GOP's deficiencies helps us (especially us progressives) in the long run. Jindal is a gift horse--or should that be a gift elephant?

13. In 1999 George Bush looked like an infantile amateur.
Edited on Wed Feb-25-09 12:59 PM by sofa king
And he never stopped looking like that. His old man wasn't the sharpest knife in the drawer, either, and Lee Atwater actively sought to dumb him down even further. And who knows what Reagan was thinking--or if he was--for six years of his Presidency.

I pointed it out in jest earlier, but now I say it with a degree of seriousness: it would appear that many American voters consider poor speaking and/or oversimplification to be positive traits.

Another way of looking at it is that President Obama was aiming at one half of America and Jindal was aiming at the other. They both hit the middle of their mark, so President Obama's address was to the 75th percentile of Americans, and Jindal's was to the 25th percentile. Both tailored their remarks and delivery accordingly.

16. True...but Jindal doesn't have the Bush Evil Legacy Empire to prop him up.
...and that's a good thing. He is what he is on his own...and it's going to take a lot of propping after last night's fiasco.

Not that the RW can't turn a loser into a winner...but Bush II was there because of the legacy. I can't even see the RW being able to turn either Jindal or Palin into Reagan. After Obama they are going to need a true Superstar, dontcha think?

17. On a substantive level Jindal is the real story.

The fact that Obama has done so well and the fact that the Republicans now officially have no responsible spokesman will mean that their will be more and more Republican legislators will not abide cacus discipline and start to bolt and find areas to agree with Obama.

While... Pres. Obama was outstanding!

It's the "A team" versus the "D team" all the way.

I love it when a plan comes together. (sigh) :)
