Capitalists are the "Engine of Prosperity"----Fuck Michelle Bernard
Edited on Wed Feb-25-09 12:44 AM by vaberella
So now the rich/capitalists are now the "engines of prosperity" that's fucked up. The working class is what make those "engines of prosperity" run...fuckin idiot that makes us the oil, I guess. She's a bitch. What the fuck is she talking about? She's a stupid Republican, I keep expecting more from them but they prove to fail miserably. She's an insulting twit. And they always put Black Repubs as pundits talking trash...

Michelle Bernard, Amy "Twit" Holmes, Michael Steele (I don't know what this loon is) and that other fool that was on Wolf Blitzer's show about the Post he has a busted eye.

Let it be known that not all Blacks are these twits above and we support Gay Rights, a lot of us support Obama, and are aware of racial prejudice. These idiots look like they would defend slavery {My reasoning: Her thought process would state that White slave/plantation owners were the "engine of prosperity."} <--by line to resurrect the practice.

Damnit to hell. She pisses me off.

21. The capital system is an engine of prosperity. No particular group
can take credit.

However, I as a physician and a business owner could never have done what I have without being able to borrow capital.

I think that's the point Obama was making.

The elitists can try to distort the comment to serve their own aggrandizement, but it's pretty apparent the party is over for them.

32. Capitalism is the astounding belief that...
the most wickedest of men will do the most wickedest of things for the greatest good of everyone.
- John Maynard Keynes

It has been my experience that "The capital system is an engine of prosperity"
fueled by greed and manned by the wickedest.

My intent is not to attack you personally, B & C, but your "never have done what I have" is both nebulous and subjective. The reader here has no way of knowing just what it is you have done, how you managed to do it and who, in a system reliant on winners and losers, were/are the losers?

Capitalism has destroyed our belief in any effective power but that of self interest backed by force.

41. It's not that complicated. Starting businesses often take huge
sums of money, called capital. So unless people have piles of money laying around, they often need to borrow money in order to start a business. When the system works, new businesses are created and so are jobs. Capitalism IS GOOD.

However, capitalism has blind spots and like any system is open to corruption. It's the blind spots and corruption that most people are upset about and rightly so.

However, a well regulated capitalist society with a strong social safety network is a good goal and something we should strive for.

29. Eat The Rich: Aerosmith
"Eat The Rich"

Wake up kid
Its half past you think
Nothings really changing but the date
You a grand slammer but you no Babe Ruth
You gotta learn how to relate
You'll be swinging for the pearly gates
Ohh I got all answers, lo and behold
You got the right key baby but the wrong key hole, yo

Well I woke up this morning
On the wrong side of the bed
And how I got to thinkin'
About all the things you said
About ordinary people
And how they make you sick
And if callin' names kicks back on you
Then I hope this does the trick

'Cause I'm sick of your complainin'
About how many bills
And I'm sick of all your bitchin'
'Bout your poodles and your pills
And I just can't see no humor
About your way of life
And I think I can do more for you
With this here fork and knife

(Chorus)
Eat The Rich
There's only one thing that they are good for
Eat The Rich
Take one bite now - come back for more
Eat The Rich
I gotta get this off my chest
Eat The Rich
Take one bite now - spit out the rest

So I called up my head shrinker
And I told him what I'd done
He said you best go on a diet
Yeah, I hope you have some fun
And a don't go burst the bubble
On rich folks who get rude
'Cause you won't get in no trouble
When you eats that kinda food

Now they're smokin' up their junk bonds
And then they go get stiff
And they're dancin' in the yacht club
With Muff and uncle Biff
But there's one good thing that happens
When you toss your pearls to swine
Their attitudes may taste like shit
But go real good with wine

Chorus

Believe in all the good things
That money just can't buy
Then you won't get no bellyache
From eatin' humble pie
I believe in rags to riches
Your inheritance won't last
So take your Gray poupon my friend
And shove it up your ass

Chorus

Eat The Rich
There's only one thing that they are good for
Eat The Rich
Take one bite now - come back for more
Eat The Rich
Don't stop me now, I'm goin' crazy
Eat The Rich
That's my idea of a good time baby

"Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration."

can recommend some readings from a liberal perspective on economics.

49. The books above are really good. I'm an MA Econ student...
Liberal books?

I'm into the origins of Capitalism. The main book for him to read is actually Adam Smith. Most econ students know his name, get the general idea or what they assumed it to be and forgo the rest. He needs to be understood. Then I'd throw in along with Krugman, some work by Amartya Sen and Dani Rodrik might work.

For an extreme liberal viewpoint I say give him the 3 volumes of Das Kapital by Karl Marx (it's my favorite text). For those who have never read him saw him as a rebel...in actuality he appreciated Capitalism a great deal, loved Adam Smith and then decided to turn Capitalism on it's head.

Just to state a point...He's definitely green behind the ears. For him to have only taken two classes is not enough to understand Capitalism. All he knows is neo-liberal econ or just basic classical econ. You don't get into the details of capitalism until you start taking Money and Banking and you don't take Money and Banking until you finish Macro and Micro. What he's studying is the bare bare and I mean white-washed bones of Econ. He hasn't even seen Capitalism in his class.

Further more, it's easy to understand Bobby Jindal's statements because there was ZERO economics involved in it. Unfortunately Obama's was bordering the same thing because he didn't break it down and go into specific details. But Bobby Jindal's speech was a narrative.

Now if he's supporting Jindal's position on less government well many Anarchists feel the same. However, any economist will tell you to get the market running and just to get our form of Capitalism to work properly we need consumption and we need spending in order to stimulate consumption. Now if we don't do that capital holts and even capitalist can't abuse their mode of production in order to capitalise on the gains. In any event, I don't care how conservative you are but to support no spending is nonsense. Secondly, Government is the only thing that has the power to stimulate anything. So there's no way to support that.

All three cable networks have at least one "black" conservative. I ask you this: if less than 5% of black people are conservatives, why are they over-represented on the cable networks?
And why do 2 of the three networks choose an african-american conservative with little or no history in this country, rather than one who grew up here and has a family history here?

50. Well there are two things.
First off when she said she was of Jamaican descent I got her way of thinking. Why? I'm from Haiti and all the people in my family who are from Haiti seem to side Republican. Of course my dad was always a Dem---> since he went as far as loving Karl Marx. My mum has now converted because of George Bush, she dislikes his decision making and she really dislikes everyone else. She's a Reagan lover and felt no other president was greater than him.

That being said, it still doesn't excuse her because my sister and I when we gathered our intel we knew where to side and it was not Repub.

Now the second thing was my professor, who teaches race relations and has written books on it (he's African American), says that many of them don't believe what they say but they get paid big money to "diss" Black people. <----His words exactly. He said he knows some of the people who do that, they run in his circle and he hates it. He said if he wanted to "diss" black people his pay grade would increase by 4x. He's the head of our Anthro Dept.

I remember her on Tweety's show and she was the one lambasting him. Otherwise she's been extremely critical and has nitpicked everything he's ever said or done.

to start. Business emerges when someone sees a need and decides to fill it. That happens at the bottom not at the top. Top down thinking gets us bubbles and crashes not prosperity.

58. I think the problem is the definition of the word capitalism.
How is it not capitalism if ten regular folks put some money in to start a business?

That is bottom-up and, as far as I can tell, about as capitalistic as you can get. And it's really common.

59. I should specify. "It's not" is a reference to your statement "its a bit much."
And while this is capitalistic society it certainly isn't a bit much to say that the rich are not the engine of prosperity.

The rich have no problem exploiting people at the lowest wages possible (which would be none if they had their way) while keeping the profits for themselves if we let them get away with it. That doesn't make the society prosperous.

Those who claim that the wealthy are the engine of prosperity would have people think that companies spring up because some rich person decided to drop a large sum of money into a business venture. No large corporation started that way. It is the small person who is the true engine of prosperity. Most businesses are started by individuals with not particularly large sums of money and it is the people in the lower classes who work for these individuals. It is labor that is the engine of prosperity and if you don't pay them enough so that their needs are met you won't get them to buy anything else either and when that happens you get the hot mess we have now.

The Michelle Bernards of the world seem to think that if you continue to reward the rich (who very often are rich because they won the lucky vagina lottery) then it will trickle down to everyone else. Obviously after 30 years of this nonsense, it should be plain that this premise just isn't true. Why they keep trying to do the same thing and expecting different results is beyond me.

Regards

55. Labor precedes and is always superior to capital.

They can't make a nickel without us. There's no reason for us to allow them to push us around. There's really no good reason for them to exist.
