3. I am in process of filing but I do hope they reform it for those that may
have to make that same hard decision that I just made last week.

4. I am with you there, MrPerson....
I am writing my useless Congressman tomorrow and taking a chance he might have actually listened tonight...and I
am writing my Senators...they both are on our side.

I'm afraid it will be too late for her.

5. You can refile a couple times
The law may be changed in the next month.

It will apply to PENDING cases too.

9. I think they should change it back to old bankruptcy law
it was lobbied by credit card companies and passed the reform with help of politicians even Biden!

11. I filed bankruptcy in 2003 so I was lucky
I had to do this when I fell into hard times. It was wonderful, nothing to be ashamed of. I reaffirmed my house and car. The rest was discharged. (Chap. 7) I would like to see people have this same opportunity that I had. Judges are there to read your files and your reasons. I had no problem. I am just an average person, not rich at all. I was lucky to get it before the reform. I feel so bad for many many people who really need it and are stuck plus credit companies are now raising interests for everyone making it so much harder. Obama needs to see this.

13. I just had a friend file 7 @ 60k
The "means test" here is 40 something but you can still do a 7 if you have secured debt you are keeping - it can put you under the threshold.

I went with my friend for moral support. He was expecting to file 13 but the attorney worked it so he could go 7. He keeps the house and the car - neither have any equity so the court wont make him liquidate.
