3. I know it wasn't meant out of genuine malice, but I take

this stuff very seriously. I have a degree in Peace Studies, and it involved a lot of study of conflict resolution, divided societies, the roots of conflict, and so forth. There were several whole semesters spent studying the concept of "The Other"—that process of reducing people—adversaries, opponents, or just anyone you don't like—to something other than people by dehumanizing them through stereotypes and caricatures. Once you begin to see the Other as something less than a full person, it becomes easier to treat him inhumanely, and eventually to stuff him into an oven.

I know you weren't going for that. But trust me, that's how it starts. Let's be better than that.
