Have you seen this rwing email going around about the stimulus? It doesn't even make sense!

I got this in my email today from a "family member" :eyes: who loves to spread their "knowledge" of what they think is going on with the "motives" behind Obama's decisions  I just wonder, do these idiots ever really read what they send?

I responded with: "Tell me three things you know about the Stimulus Law--of course there are more, but three tells me you at least somewhat understand it."

Can't wait to hear the barrage of "knowledge" flying through cyberspace now:eyes:

-----------------------------------------------------------

Subject: Stimulus Package

Three contractors are bidding to fix a broken fence at the White House. One is from Chicago , another is from Tennessee , and the third is from Minnesota .

All three go with a White House official to examine the fence. The Minnesota contractor takes out a tape measure and does some measuring, then works some figures with a pencil. "Well," he says, "I figure the job will run about $900: $400 for materials, $400 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

The Tennessee contractor also does some measuring and figuring, then says, "I can do this job for $700: $300 for materials, $300 for my crew and $100 profit for me."

The Chicago contractor doesn't measure or figure, but leans over to the White House official and whispers, "$2,700."

The official, incredulous, says, "You didn't even measure like the other guys! How did you come up with such a high figure?"

The Chicago contractor whispers back, "$1000 for me, $1000 for you, and we hire the guy from Tennessee to fix the fence."

"Done!" replies the government official.

And that, my friends, is how the new stimulus plan will work.

1. Well, at least the guy from Tennessee got work.
(I'm from Tennessee).

But, I'm with you. I don't see how this has anything to do with the Stim Bill. It seems like more tommyrot regarding "Chicago politics" that the nuttery party likes to carry on about.

2. That is how privatization works
My sil was the "guy from Tennessee" who did Coast Guard siding for a huge company out of Salt Lake City who made the whole $2,000 - no "Chicago" to it. This is right wing privatization, plain and simple.

5. Here's the Republican version:
Halliburton gets the project under a no-bid contract for $10,000. They hire undocumented immigrants to do the work and then cheat them out of their wages. True story. Happened to workers on Katrina rebuilding projects.

10. And then rail against the illegals who are taking American jobs
And the damn liberals who mollycoddle them by protecting their basic human rights.

6. I thought this is how the Bush administration worked on the
single bid contracts. Of course the fence contract has nothing to do with the stimulus package. It is just a way for the Republicans to slam the Obama administration. They just cannot get over the fact that they are no longer in power.

7. Oversight will be ridiculous on the recovery spending, and Peter Orszag will make sure of it.
60 page memo sent to all agencies in charge of stimulus spending, outlining how the money should be tracked.

9. Someone still got to work
which is the whole point of the stimulus plan.

Stupid freepers. Proved our point and didn't even realize it.
