Krugman: "Bush cut taxes $2 trillion and look where that got us - what are Republicans thinking?"

This is a paraphrase of what he said, but Shuster repeated what he said in a mocking manner and they both laughed in disbelief.

How stupid are Republicans?

:freak:

2. Well, we did have job growth for a while there. Not saying that was due to tax cuts.
I just don't think those tax cuts were the issue.
Frankly, I would think businesses would like to have tax rates remain constant at whatever rate, for fiscal planning purposes.

3. You mean the "jobless recovery"?
We had flat job growth for several years after he got into office and cut the crap out of taxes for rich people. Hardly an indication of the success of his tax cuts.

12. I like this plot better.
It shows that the current drop is not setting records yet based on percent unemployed, but it also shows the jobless recovery as well as any I've seen. You can see that job loss continued for 30 straight months under Bush - a record based on the past 6 recessions.

5. I agree
I saw no tax relief during Bush, so the tax cuts that are included in the plan are good.

He was attacking the proposition that the Republicans won't support the bill due to their being NOT enough taxs cuts (for rich people).

11. Sorry to say- but most tax cuts don't deliver nearly the bang for the buck
and that's simply a mathematical fact.

14. I agree
I've never proposed that tax cuts provide "bang for the buck" and in fact was volunteering to have my taxes raised under Bush, and I'm hardly rich. I do think that if you are going to cut taxes, cut them for people who live month to month!!

13. Today Limbaugh said he "hopes the recession lasts longer"
After a long monologue about what a terrible idea the stimulus is, how it will fail, how he prays it will fail, etc.
What kind of person is this... awful??
