1. Wow. Bush accomplished little in the first 100 days, let alone 10.

6. You gave me an idea...
And I've been searching for a list of accomplishments for Bush's first 100 days... lots of posturing, but no list, and damn few items being discussed... and no real mention of what he actually did. Strange.

18. Bush also
trashed all the anti-terror work the Clinton administration had done. He also sabotaged the Clinton administration plans to stop back-channel money movement designed to stop terrorists from moving money around. This allowed them to perpetrate 9-11 more easily. Bush wanted those channels open so his corporate cronies could hide their loot.

He also enacted the disastrous tax rebates that started the economy on the downward slide.

Forgotten headline from 9-10-01 -- lost in the events of the next day:

10. Note, however....
...that several of the great things President Obama are reversals of the terrible things that President Bush did.

As a side-note to the other reply in this sub-thread, two of the 100-day moves I distinctly recall from Shrub were the international abortion rule, and the hiding of Poppy's presidential records, both of which were quickly reversed by President Obama in the past ten days.

22. Bush (aka The Bush Juggernaut) actually accomplished a helluva lot very fast...
... the emphasis being on the word "Hell". I was in a constant state of shock back then. Oh, he and Cheney got a lot done.

8. 1x. Performed a legislative hat trick with the stimulus bill.
A bill which currently includes a massive increase in educational funding, some innovative payroll tax credits, and other nice gestures.

But more importantly, President Obama got it through the House with everything he wanted, while simultaneously denying any forthcoming credit from every single Republican Member of the House, and making them look like obstructionist a-holes in the process.

The new President continues to impress and even amaze me. Back in the day they would have said he has the favor of the gods.

11. actually, he did not remove the ban on funding for establishments
that perform abortions- or at least that's incomplete. He removed the ban on federal funding for family planning that includes birth control and abortion, on NGOs that operate outside the U.S.

Also, he hasn't yet signed SCHIP

But what he's done so far is excellent.

19. he's changed the dress code at the White House.
And this isn't a trivial thing. As Biden said, the more comfortable the workplace is, the more people feel able to voice a contrary opinion. He's allowing shirtsleeves in the Oval office and business casual for weekends.

25. Started a middle class reform effort
Which hopefully will involve legislation on EFCA when all is said and done. I'd love to see the GOP filibuster a billed called the 'middle class rehabilitation act of 2009' or whatever they end up calling the bill after Biden and his team decide what all to add to it.

Lilly Ledbetter

He has already done alot to repair our reputation internationally. I read today that Hillary clinton said world leaders let out a 'collective sigh of relief' after Obama's interview with Arab tv, knowing we have a different leader now.

29. True, True, But you also have to look at other things duffus did
that will have a generational effect. Like the Supreme Court. Decisions will have a much greater impact than reversing an Ex. Order. And this depression will take a generation to heal. Or the one that realy depresses me constantly is the jobs that have been sent to China. Some say most won't come back. But I don't believe that. I think some jobs can return if Obama works at bringing them back. The list goes on.....

30. And the stupid things the right have gotten their knickers in a twist over in the first 10 days...
1. Messed up the oath and therefore was not legit (even though it was Roberts flub).

2. Proved he hates the military by skipping the "Salute to Heroes" Inauguration Ball.

3. Taunted the almighty Sultan of Swine Rush Limbaugh.

4. Wasted electricity when he turned the thermostat up in the White House.

5. Insulted DC residents by calling them pussies for not being able to handle a little snow.

5. Made a friendly $5 wager with his 10 year old daughter, arrest him!

6. Dared to sit in the Oval Office not wearing a jacket. Hippie freak.

7. Proved he is either the Antichrist or a Muslim by not putting his hand on the bible when he did the oath "do over."

8. STILL hasn't produced his long form Hawaiian birth certificate!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure there are others.....

which is nothing more than a violation of the constitution.

And don't forget all the issues with the stimulus package. Yeah, the one that provides little help to the majority of the people.

All this rah rah crap is why this country is in the horrendous situation it is in right now.

Far too many are in denial and do not hold their elected officials accountable.

Elected officials should be afraid of the people-not the other way around.

And they should certainly NOT be put on a pedestal, idolized and cheerleaded like some rock star.
