Boehner: we're asking Obama to help us
he should tell them to go help themselves...

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/28/us/politics/28obama.html?hp

“I think what our big moves will be today are to ask the President to help us,” Representative John A. Boehner of Ohio, the Republican leader, told reporters on Tuesday. “Help us make this plan better so that it will put Americans back to work. The goal has been to preserve jobs and to create new jobs and if that is the laser focus that we want to have, a lot of the spending in this bill does not achieve that.”

4. They are trying to make it seem like the Dems are the ones not compromising
That is the danger that Obama has in working with them. He needs to work with them from a position of authority, not from a position of "we need you." I know that they want the republicans to take some of the responsibility for the plan but it makes us look weak. We don't need them, so if they are confident that it will work, then why do we need them?

All this catering makes me think that maybe they are not 100% confident that the stimulus will work.

I am all about compromise and I am so glad that he is reaching out and keeping his word, but if we keep on wrangling with them, their angle of "they didn't want to compromise" may start to ring true in some ears.

6. Interesting how Bush's stimulus, sans oversight and all...
Was so much better in their eyes.

I'm sick of their obvious political, partisan, and obstructionist ways.

7. Boner is such a dumbass. TAX CUTS ONLY HELP PEOPLE WITH JOBS!!!
A tax cut is not going to do shit for anyone who is not working... you are taxed by what you make and what you spend. Make nothing, spend nothing.. no taxes!

As for the whole BULLSHIT about small bizz. The only part that is taxed is PROFIT. For those that do not quite get it... let's say I am a Sm Bizz owner and I make 1 million bucks... I pay all my bills, INCLUDING payroll, and after ALL my bills are paid ($999,990) I am left with $10... that is PROFIT! And I will be taxed on that $10! Please note, ALL MY BILLS ARE PAID and I will open and do it again the next day...

Let's say I paid all my bills and spend $900,000 and that leaves me $100,000... I could use that money to buy a new truck, $90,000... I am now taxed on the PROFIT I have left over $10,000.

TOTAL BULLSHIT. Listen up Obama folks, tell the Republicans to PISS OFF. Grab 3 of the more sane ones by the balls and tell them if they EVER want to see a pet project see the light of day they will vote for this...

8. Screw looking for 80 votes. IMO Obama should take the 60 votes he can easily get,
pass the legislation he wants, and tell the Republicans to piss off.

11. Boehner's constituents should be voting him out too, he's no Miss American Pie...
He's a two-faced, lying smart-ass crier of crocodile tears and he knows it. If Ohio thinks it has the creme of that crop then I suppose that's fine but I'm just not seeing it

14. Obama already helped them.
Boehner has been crowing for days about cutting the family planning provision and it's gone. Is Boehner ungrateful or just greedy?

18. Are Republicans stupid enough to think we don't remember when we
weren't allowed to hold meetings? When they cut the electricity off in the middle of a Democratic "meeting" in a basement?
