I’m getting the distinct impression that some of you people on that infamous other side of the aisle are not yet fully appreciative of the situation you now find yourselves in.

So let me learn ya something (yes, that is grammatically incorrect, just the way you like it – and tend to understand it).

You are now in the STFU position on the political gameboard. It’s kind of like jail in Monopoly, except there is no get-out-free card in play, and you will be there permanently – or until hell freezes over, whichever comes first.

For your immediate edification, being in the STFU position means the following:

Before you open your big, trash-spewing mouths about President Obama (note that the “P” is once again capitalized, as is appropriate), remember that it is unpatriotic to criticize a Commander-in-Chief during a time of war. That used to be the conventional wisdom of a certain group of people (your photo goes here) – people whose “wisdom” elected, and then supported and defended the Worst.President.Ever. for eight long, devastating years. STFU.

The second you are tempted to mention that one G.W.B. “kept the country safe for seven-plus years”, you might want to recall that it was the first nine f*ckin’ months that wound up counting. Just another thing that landed you in the STFU square – braggin’ about how your president managed to shut the barn door after the horse had already fled – taking the Twin Towers with him. STFU.

Worried about the fact that torture has now been taken off the table by the new administration? Concerned that if someone named Mohammed-something-or-other isn’t being water-boarded on a regular basis, your way of life will be jeopardized?

News Flash: Your way of life was flushed down the proverbial toilet when regulatory oversight of Big Banks, Big Pharma, Big Oil and Big Business was deemed detrimental to shovelling YOUR tax dollars into “subsidies” for corporations making money hand-over-fist at the expense of the nation’s economic health. (And if you’re still naively wonderin’ where your way of life went, you can find it in an off-shore, tax-exempt bank account, or in a call-center in India where someone else is now performing your previous job). Mohammed-something-or-other had nothing to do with it – anymore than he was ever a threat to national security. So STFU.

And I just know where you’re all dyin’ to go now – that Famous Family Values© thingy you’ve been trottin’ out for what seems like forever. Yeah, yeah, you’re just itching to talk about Christian morality when it comes to The Gays, The Pro-Choicers, The Diplomats, etc. Well, here’s the skinny on your fat mouths: morality is about walking the walk, not talking the talk. You’ve all been doing a lot of talking, but the walking part seems to have escaped you. Try Googling “Jesus Christ” sometime – “Blessed are the Peacemakers” , yadda, yadda. I think The Nazarene put it all quite succinctly – and here’s an opportunity for ya’ll to get to know the ultimate Tree-Huggin’, Love-Thy-Neighbor Guy. And until you are capable of recognizing Him and what he had to say, you can (and you know I’m just saying it again because it feels so good) STFU.

I realize that a lot of you are now retreating into that never-neverland (and I do mean never-never) where one GWB will be “treated kindly by history”. Uh, hate to tell ya, but history will not be written by the FOX-News team or Georgie’s mommy and daddy. It will be written by people who recognize an incompetent idiot when they see one, now or in retrospect, and won’t be afraid to say so in future (now that the wiretaps have been removed). Again – and you know it’s coming – you’re in the STFU position, so STFU already.

But I, along with my fellow citizens, will not be unkind. As you retreat to the STFU sidelines, you will be allowed to take with you the most precious of your belongings, i.e. your According-to-Power/Money-Grabbing-TV-Evangelists-Bible, your Yeah-‘Cept-But-He-Liberated-the-Iraqis Purple-Thumb fingerprinting kit, your It’s-All-Clinton’s and/or Obama’s Fault play-at-home version of the as-seen-on-the-MSM game, along with your official, super-duper, this-offer-will-NOT-be-repeated, Franklin Mint Cryin’ Towel.

And you can also keep your lapel flag-pins and "I support the Troops" bumper-stickers - just as a reminder of the days when such things were considered suitable surrogates for actual patriotism and love of country.

Now off to the STFU corner, once and for all.

(Oh, and while I’m on the subject, I just wanted to say one more thing: SHUT THE F*CK UP)
