Right click on it and select properties.

1680x1050 and 1400x900 are pretty close scale-wise, I think, so you should be able to save it, set it as the background, and it will only look mildly stretched. (That's if you have it set to "stretch." If not, it will perfectly scaled down, but you'll have black bars on the sides.)
