... will mark exactly one week that former Senator Barack Obama was inaugurated President of the United States, and every time I think about it, it seems so surreal.

On Inauguration Day, I found myself somewhat awe struck because I still can not believe it (even after hearing the oath, and seeing the first dance, and seeing the Presidential parade).

DU'ers, I know that sometimes so many people can get caught up in emotion about this inauguration, but, as an African-American male that can only imagine the enormity of the task that President Obama has before him, I want to say, THANK YOU.

Two days after Inauguration Day, I found myself getting a suit tailored for an on campus interview that I have this upcoming week, and the clerk asked me, "Are you a reverand?"

I said, "No. I'm a law student."

He said, "Well, maybe you can be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court one day."

... and at that moment, I said, "Well, now anything's possible."

Thank you all for looking beyond the scare tactics.

Thank you all for standing up for righteousness and seeking brilliance and temperament before bullshit.

Thank you for allowing the chance of possibility.

For that, you are all to be saluted.

President Obama ... that never gets old.

1. If you ever get to be Chief Justice,
I wish you well, and I think you'll be bringing a depth of feeling to that role that will stand you and the nation in good stead.

2. I still can't believe it :)
I have been walking around with a smile on my face since last year actually. 2008 was a great year for me because of the Obama campaign. It helped me lift myself back up again. And if I ever had the chance to shake Obama's hand again, I hope this time I would be able to have a conversation with him. The first thing I would say is "Thank you Mr. President".

I read the constitution the other night and I have read it many times but this time that I read it, I felt so strong. Earlier today when I was washing dishes I had the National Prayer Service on Cspan on television and they sung the National Anthem. I think for the first time I actually sung it from the heart. Sure many times in HS I had to play it in the marching band but this time, I felt the spirit of it.

And you know what else? I am so glad that young African American kids have someone else to look up to other than a professional athlete. We can be the President of the United States of America.

Thank you President Barack Obama.

4. Yep. We did it. We ALL did it. I hope someday that you do
become Chief Justice of the Supreme Court; Lord knows they could use a little compassion in that group.

5. It all went by so fast
the time leading up to the day seemed to drag on forever, then the day finally got here and it was over before you knew it. :(
