I am so very proud that our press has suddenly discovered how to ask probing questions.

I am so very proud that our press has suddenly discovered how to ask probing questions.
It's so heartening to know that they are out there working in our best interests.

I don't care if they ask these questions, but where the hell have they been.

2. Yep. And the GOP is going to rediscover "oversight." And...
they're already rediscovering "fiscal responsibility." And "bipartisanship."

The thing I'm loving (two days in) is that Obama is plowing forward with the task cleaning up after BushCo, and he's not letting all this baloney stop him. However, at some point he is going to have to start getting legislation through Congress. Then things will become more interesting.

3. Obama can handle it; Bush couldn't.
Remember: this is a restoration of representative govt after 8 long years of an unpopular minority regime.

5. Good point...
Also, they probably had to speak slowly and in short sentences in order for the Bush people to understand what they were asking.

Even if they already knew that they would just answer every question with a "no comment" or "your a terrorist for asking that". Also the ever popular "I'm not going to comment on an ongoing investigation".

4. Isn't it amazing how they are suddenly so interested in doing
their jobs?

7. Interested in, or allowed to?
Bush played the press corps quite a bit. Harper's started doing so up here, too; he recently put out regulations saying he had to see the questions in advance to give reporters permission to ask him something. Ugh.

Also, the press is probably more confident that they'll get real answers from this guy. Since half the things coming out of the White House under Bush were evasions, half lies, and half unrelated lectures - yes, people, that's even more than entirely bullshit! - I can understand the reporters having more of an "oh, fuck this" attitude about Bush than Obama.

11. Bullshit, the press with their corporate masters played Bush for us
Many understand many parts of it but never were able to see how inculcated it was into the system. Those rich thieving bastards that have controlling interest in so much stole most of what was left for the rest of us. They put the country so far into debt that it may yet prove to be their own undoing. They stole us blind and there was little we could do about it the way things were set up.

The next SOB that tells me he is thanking Bush for keeping us safe is getting punched in the chops x(

6. Send this message to chuck todd and inform him that the VIDEO
of Obama given the oath again has been shown on his network all day. What a dope.

8. That's the irony of a press that isn't cowed by intimidation
They're now feeling "free" to do their jobs, even though the previous administration, which TRULY needed the scrutiny and due diligence for operating under the radar and under cover of darkness, was the very one they were afraid to question.

:grr:

10. Meh...I'm very wary of the "free press".
I glad they are doing their job but don't trust the motives, reasons, or desire to get the truth out to the public. I strongly suspect they are acting as agents for their masters and the GOP rather than doing what they forgot was their responsibility for the past decade.

I'm very wary and not feeling the trust or much slack for phony controversy.
