and it's a good thing.

I always saw Obama as a spiritual person, but one who didn't literally read/study the bible. He takes from it certain philosophies that he agrees with, but doesn't 'consult it' for advice.

Of course I don't know Obama personally and could be totally wrong, but that's how he has come off to me...and it is a welcome change.

Inauguration Speech, and "old" applies to much much more than just The Bible.

Think along the lines of C.G. Jung's "Archetypes" here, i.e. Truths inherited by virtue of membership in one's SPECIES.

3. People who will lie when they swear will do it with or without a Bible
The real swearing in happened the first day the second time was a formality

4. Me too....
They should stop swearing on a bible. He took a first step by acknowledging unbelievers in the Inauguration speech, now is the time to ease religion out of our legal system. Next, take that pesky word "marriage" off of what is a legal contract.

5. I think it was just done very fast. Roberts could have said, "Where's a bible?"
but I suspect that he didn't even think about it.

6. He was already formally sworn in with Lincoln's bible.
Clearing up a technicality would open another can o worms with a new bible.
