Obama and a woman's right to choose
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 06:31 PM by Cash_thatswhatiwant
Obama should get to work in taking away the global gag rule. Can this be done by executive order? He must also make birth control and support for a woman's right to choose in all states a priority. In many states across this nation, it is almost impossible for a woman to have an abortion if that is what she wants because states have put so many restrictions on it that are frivolous, such as the walls of the clinic must be exactly 10 feet apart. I was watching PBS's Frontline, and they discussed this chipping away at reproductive rights in states especially in the South. I've only seen it recently but its quite shocking.

1. Also he needs to
restore mandatory coverage of birth control by all companies that provide federal health insurance policies, and make it mandatory that military women have full access to birth control and abortions abroad in military hospitals so that enlisting doesn't mean losing your reproductive rights.

3. yes. I hope that he will do this and isn't afraid. I believe most people believe
the abortion wars are over...even a state like South Dakota voted pro-choice.

4. I believe also that Hillary Clinton will have a big part in making this a priority.

2. That was a big reason so many were down on Rick Warren
He actively pushed tying the gag order to his AIDS so-called charities.

6. Yes, Obama can overturn the Global Gag rule by Executive Order
Tomorrow will be eight years to the day that Bush re-instated it, as a gift to the anti-choicers. He did it on the anniversary of Roe v Wade as a thumb to the eye to Planned Parenthood and millions of women.

Bush is without a doubt one of the most mean, vindictive bastards that has ever befouled this planet.
