Here's a new Bad Word For the Haters: "Ideologs"
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 04:01 PM by Solomon
A replacement for "liberal" and or "conservative" in terms of dirty words.

This, more than anything else clears the air for me about Obama. I am sick to death of ideologs. Particularly right-wing ideologs, but left-wing ideologs sometimes get on my nerves too.

2. would it be too ideologuish to suggest ideologue spelled ideolog
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 04:07 PM by sui generis
is a mispeeled ideology?

:P

Why do we have to hate whole classes and categories? Seems lazy. I prefer to hate individuals, and there are more than a few that aren't fit to be a hair on an ass wart right here on DU.

7. At least you know where they stand
Divining the true intent of maneuverers, accommodaters and expedient types gets difficult enough, but knowing if or when they'll let their true intent hold sway is downright puzzling sometimes.

Perfectionists fuck up everything, but heavy politickin' often makes for habitual middle-of-the-roading, and that's often worse than bullheaded certainty.

There's a lot to be said for the concept of shedding rigid affiliations and policy fixations for the big picture, but that gets to be namby-pamby and untrustworthy after awhile.

Many of us have pet policies and peeves, and pushing oneself and one's issue(s) to the fore doesn't necessarily mean that one is some intransigent ivory tower perfectionist.

10. I'm sick of centrist ideologues
Edited on Thu Jan-22-09 09:25 AM by alcibiades_mystery
The ideology of the center is that it is some "fair" compromise between the ideologies of the left and right, and therefore more realistic. The center is an ideology as extreme as either the left or right ideology. It is not neutral or a compromise: it is an ideology in its own right. The problem with the center ideology is that it attempts to mask itself as NOT an ideology. It is one. They all are. The center ideology is just the ideology of power. That's why it (literally) marginalizes every other possibility of organizing a society, and calls those "ideological."
