Jonas Brothers Surprise First Tweens with White House Visit

January 21, 2009 7:48 AM

ABC News has learned that after their scavenger hunt last night, First Tweens Malia and Sasha Obama were paid a surprise White House visit by the Jonas Brothers.

The visit came after Malia, Sasha, and some of their friends from their new school Sidwell Friends saw two new Disney movies -- High School Musical 3 and Bolt -- and participated in a scavenger hunt in which they ran around their new home, learning about this history of the White House. White House ushers had organized a similar scavenger hunt for a young Chelsea Clinton when she first moved into the White House in 1993.

At the end of Malia and Sasha's scavenger late-night hunt, they opened a door to discover their favorite musical performers: Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas -- the pop boy band sensation who first exploded on the Disney Channel and also appeared earlier this week at the Kids' Inaugural Concert.

4. Ha! They're not my favorite either, but I'm not a young girl into
young boy bands.

5. When I said as much about them and Miley Cyrus the other day
I got spanked hard. Apparently, the girls like the Jonas Bros. I thought their tastes might run a little different.

25. Hilarious!! Seriously, though, I don't think too much of this stuff
is going to be good for those girls. They need to be treated like normal kids, or they will end up with lots of issues. I am surprised the Obamas allowed this.

29. I hope they'll have some semblance of a normal life
As adorable as they are, I hope they'll not be much in public view. From everything I've seen it seems like the parents have established a loving and nurturing foundation ... plus Grammy is there to keep them in hand.

Maybe the grandma is there to keep the President in check too?. TO give some good advice how to do things... I do not know, but I have always liked the comfort of someone who are older, and maybe even little more vice than myself give me some advice... Even that I never would have the power, and the responsibility that mr Obama have today.. I for one would give him at least 100 days before I am questing his character.. Some that the right wings already have started to do, just a day after he was sworn in..

I do hope the two girls get a normal life as possible, because they would in the end be normal persons again after 4 or 8 year.. But at least I really doubt that President Obama should be worry about what the girls are doing when they are dating for the first time.. I have the feeling that Secret Service would be there to protect the two girls..

Nice of them to make the girls' first night in the White House special. I do hope that this is the last we hear about them in the press for awhile though.

12. My daughter has a friend who goes by the name
"Mrs. Joe Jonas," and she's 15! These guys are truly the flavor of the moment, and there are millions of tweens and young teens out there who'd love to be in Sasha and Malia's shoes. Hope they realize they are very lucky girls.

I was wondering where the girls were...of course they probably had to be ready for a normal school day this morning...I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall during that scavenger hunt, though -- what a great idea!!!

31. I dunno.
Little girls have had celebrity crushes for as long as I can remember. When I was young, the girls all liked REO Speedwagon. And I had a thing for Daisy Duke at 9. I think it's harmless fun.

Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 03:37 PM by Occam Bandage
We have the word "pre-teen" to refer to the age group. "Tween" is purely a marketing buzzword.
