It's not part of the oath, and his inflection was very purposeful.

and that he would say it. And, Roberts inflected it as a question for the first time in the past 12 inagurations as opposed to making it a flat statement. This was to signal that it was NOT part of the constitutional requierment.

12. Well, not intentional but Roberts was sorta like

the high school senior who already got accepted into the college of his/her choice, then just decides to coast the rest of senior year: take days off, don't study for anymore tests, etc.....Well, Roberts just coasted thru the oath yesterday....Roberts should have spent 5-10 minutes (or a few more minutes if necessary) to prepare for delivery of the oath to Obama....Roberts' job was not a difficult one....

Yeah, he was doing a dance and mumbling something about "getting Obama good!"

He later said he became Chief Justice just so he could he reach lifetime goal of causing Obama to lose his grace.
