You know the really sad part? It was the same way before he was ever elected to anything (except he was a better pilot than McCain, when he deigned to show up).

we just know a hell of a lot less about his military record than McCain.

McCain at least had the courage to go get shot at when he could have easily gotten cushy duty somewhere away from the Vietnam War given who his dad and granddad were.

I give McCain and Bush Sr. a lot better marks as pilots and warriors than "W".

12. Well, he was highly recommended for promotion by his CO

in the Guard due to skill, but who knows if that was nepotism. McCain crashed I believe it was three planes early on, but apparently he learned enough from that (at taxpayer expense) to go on to fly several hundred missions. If I recall, two more planes were lost to McCain but not really from official pilot error. True, no telling what shrub would have done had he actually seen battle.

We have NO real idea of W's flying record or skill - it's all been hidden from us. Given his drinking and given people's attitudes about drinking and flying and drinking and driving, I wouldn't be surprised to find out he cracked up a few F-102's for the Texas Air National Guard in his day.

Again it's really unfair to compare the two because McCain didn't use his daddy to protect him from real service or to clean up for him when he made a mistake.
