Msg to Chris Matthews: STFU
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 12:27 AM by sjdnb
You are not Tim Russert -- and, you will never be. So, quit trying. You are just embarrassing yourself and diminishing Tim's memory.

Booing Bush was NOT "bad form" - it was what his actions deserved,

3. In my opinion he trivialized the moment
He talked, just to fill space and, in attempting to do so, went on and on about nothing of significance ... making a true moment of history just another way to make a few $$s off advertisers.

6. Okay. He's a schmuck sometimes, but he has been insightful from
time to time and he deserves a little credit for those moments. I don't think he is trying to be anyone, but his own shmucky self.

12. see my update - he admonished the crowd for booing Bush
saying it was "bad form" sorry, but I think lying and misleading the American people, as well as their allies, and undermining the Constitution is far worse

4. Tim Russert wasn't Tim Russert either.
That blowhard was good at asking good questions -and NEVER FUCKING DEMANDING A REAL RESPONSE!

He was worse than useless because he gave the impression of being a tough reporter without actually being one.

IMHO of course.

17. Just because some people refuse to kick his corpse,
we get accused of "overrating" him. Oh well.

20. And other people who contend that he was overrated
get accused of "kicking his corpse".

When Dick Cheney dies, will people who have negative things to say be "kicking his corpse"?

14. I never got that either... he is the human version of Barney Rubble -
at least that was the first thing I thought of the first time I saw him. But I think the others have answered your question. I think it has to do with hair color... can't think of anything else. Tweety was actually the smarter character and was always one step ahead of the blundering Sylvester... (if memory serves). Barney Rubble on the other hand was sort of a little daft - though maybe not quite as obnoxious as Matthews seems to be unable to avoid.

He's annoying but I think his intentions are good - if generally really really distorted. I respect his knowledge of history and political history, but not his penchant for generalizations that are really out of line or close to it. So I guess I don't hate or like him... I'm pretty ambivalent and don't care much. Probably the worst thing a tv personality could hear. Being hated or loved is better than that, I would guess. Sorry Matthews. Keep talking about history instead of your "insights" and I'd likely enjoy your program rather than just get through it - or watch it because his guests or the current events are worth tuning in for.

Well, clearly a lot of people must disagree with me because he must be pretty popular to have the slot and guests that he enjoys. So, my little opinion doesn't matter. I'm just confused, I guess because I don't get the appeal that enough people must see in the guy...

He'll live. He doesn't need my viewpoint! : ) But he still looks like Barney Rubble...

9. "Msg to Chris Matthews: STFU"
The only words he understands in that exclamation are "Chris" and "Matthews".

15. They all need to STFU other than Keith and Rachel!
Larry King got so "into" himself, when the President showed up for one of the balls and was talking, a producer had to tell him to shut up coz they were going to Obama.

So when someone feels like what they have to say is more important than the President on the day that he is inaugurated, you know there's problems!

16. Don't know and don't care if it was bad form. I DO know it was one of the few times the asshole
got to see and hear REAL people express their opinions of him, as opposed to being sequestered in "free speech" pens miles away out of sight and earshot.

I hope the memory of the catcalls and boos from his fellow Americans give him some sobering moments in the coming weeks and years.

ZOMG!! WHO'S IN CHARGE??!! Obama or Clinton!11!

:wtf: In fact, all these tv asshats are talking the same crap.

Do us all a favor and STFU already.

22. I don't think booing Bush is bad form. Booing him at the INAUGURATION is bad form.
I hate Bush as much as anyone. I'd boo him in other settings. But this was the inauguration -- our national ceremony of the peaceful transfer of power -- and a ceremony that shows the world how cool such a democratic transfer can be ... I don't think booing had any place in that moment.

But, to be realistic, no one could possibly have prevented 2 million pissed-off people from booing!

Matthews does need to shut it sometimes but he just loves hearing himself talk.
