...the military bands, that is. It's just AWESOME. C-span is doing such a good job with the parade coverage.

1. I cried when he saluted the first band.
He IS the Commander in Chief.

God Bless you President Obama!

4. My eyes filled right up too. It made me realize what a manificent change has already begun
After 8 years of an embarrassment, we now have a capable Commander in Chief and someone who's a good person. The picture of Obama standing next to that high ranking military officer in the booth with him will stay in my minds eye for a long time.

5. Is your spine anywhere close to Chris Matthews's leg?
No, wait, that was tingles and they are not always contagious.

8. Some time during the primaries, Tweety heard an Obama speech & reported that it...
that he felt "tingles running up my leg" from the excitement of it all. Keith Olbermann was sitting right next to him when he said this, but gallently refrained from playing off of the stupidest straight line in television history.

10. LOL
thanks for the heads up.

Thankfully, tingles aren't related to chills, but I might get vaccinated just in case ;)

6. He's Commander in Chief to MILITARY only.
I truly truly DETEST this recent militarization of our socierty.

A US president is a Commander in Chief ONLY to the military, NOT to civilians.

NOT MY COMMANDER IN CHIEF; but he is my president.

9. Al Haig once tried to get a White House staffer to go along with a Nixon command, saying
"He's your commander in chief." Back in the 70s when we had a living generation of Americans who remembered life before the Cold War, this really got some people upset. Our current generation lacks the perspective of a nonimperial United States.

11. George W. bUsh disregarded the US Constitution;
so why do so many who should know better do likewise??!

When I posted (for 8 years) that George W. bUsh was NOT anyone's CiC unless they were in the US Armed Forces, the rightwingnuts attacked me rabidly. (Surprising thing is, it's not the rightwingnuts attacking me now.)

I take the US Constitution seriously and "technically"; The President shall be Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy of the United States, and of the Militia of the several States, when called into the actual Service of the United States.

The president is not the CiC of civilians. One would think lefties (and especially DUers) would realize the deep ramifications and implications of ever even thinking a president is a CiC over civilians. Especially after the past 8 years.
