The Unofficial Democratic Underground Thank You President Obama Thread
Dear President Obama,

Thank you. Thank you for being who you are. Thank you for answering the call. Thank you for all that you've done and suffered through thus far. Thank you and Mrs. Obama, Malia and Sasha for your personal sacrifices and hard work.

Words can not express how truly thankful we all are.

2. Thanks so much, Mr. President!
Thanks for bringing hope to me and my family...my community. Thanks to you and your family for all you have done to bring change to this down-trodden country.

5. The road has not been easy for EITHER of you, contrary to what some desperately want to believe.
That you are the "affirmative action" president. That everything you or your wife ever got was through "reverse racism" and "quotas." That you have never suffered "real" discrimination or prejudice.

The thinking folks of this country know that this is untrue. We know that IN SPITE of growing up without knowing one parent; IN SPITE OF looking and being different from just about everyone else in just about every room you entered; IN SPITE OF being made to feel perpetually "less than" because of the color of your skin and the amount of money in your family's purse, you both worked your behinds off because you knew that your families had high hopes and grand dreams for you both and you were determined not to let them down. And let them down you most assuredly did NOT. You surpassed what I'm sure was even their wildest dreams.

For this you have my undying admiration, respect and maybe even love. :) I wish you, your families and this administration the best of luck. This moment in history is not lost on many of us and we are grateful for it.

8. Thank you, Barack Hussein Obama
You may see yourself as this kid from Hawaii with big ears and a funny name, but we know you as something far more than that. You've had to fight for everything in life, including the Democratic nomination for the Presidency. We know you'll keep on fighting for the American people.

That said, don't screw it up! We're counting on you! :hi:

9. Restoring my faith
Thank you for restoring my faith in my government. Thank you for restoring the United States of America in the eyes of the world.

Thank you for taking the high road on everything that I've seen you do thus far, when I would have never been as gracious.

Thank you for selecting Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and others who I feel will contribute greatly at a time when this nation needs to heal.

I can hope again for my future, for my daughter's future, and for my country's future.
