I am going to have to turn off DU the way I do the TV.
I have tried to post positive evidence of progress but all that I see are negative stories about Kerry and the Campaign. Every time there is a not so positive poll everyone jumps on it.There is a lot of spin with posters taking the opposition side.Posters hammering Dan Rather for supporting the truth, which I thought we wanted. All "dead campaign" stories are duly reported and gloated over. This more than anything makes me fearful for the election.I assume that there are a ton of trolls and the mods are doing a great job suppressing the worst of them.I have been hitting the alert button more than ever, but many of these postings are from DUers who seem to be gloating at the prospect of doom.I have to take a hiatus.I will check back later but I can't watch us demoralize ourselves any longer.

3. I feel the same....why do we eat our own...I noticed that the freepers
did not whine when Kerry was up in the polls. We dems just plain do not stick to the point which is win this election...all this whining is not going to do it. I also think a lot of this negative crap is from trolls. SNAP OUT OF IT!!!!!

4. It helps to take a break
There are alot of panicky people that "look at the glass half full" and also think someone spit in it!

BTW, whatever happened to that Mr Pitt guy? I loved reading his stuff.

5. I feel your pain!
But today I got up, put on my "Women for Kerry-Edwards" button, and headed to work (church). I began a conversation with a community volunteer (non-church member), and we began talking about the events in the world. This led to the importance of being informed about the issues, and then, of course, politics.

I told her how important it was for people to make an informed decision, regardless of their choice of candidate. Then she rather hesitantly pointed out my pin, and said "I like that. I'm with him, too."

I think many of the older generation have been taught that it's not polite to talk politics, so they're hesitant to speak out. Sometimes it's simply having the courage to begin a conversation with someone(be prepared to hear negative stuff). I always tell people, "we may disagree on the candidate, but I want people to make an informed decision, not an emotional one."

Our message IS reaching people!

7. I have my moments of negativity too,
but I don't constantly whine about it like some people do. That wears on my nerves and it ticks me off bigtime. Kerry is doing well and I wish people would get off of his back.

If you want perfection, good luck. You'll never find it. I want somebody who is strong and intelligent. Kerry is all that and more. Realistically, Kerry is well situated and is ahead in some polls. Don't put so much emphasis on the stupid polls because they change every day and you can paralyze yourself with worry. A lot of them aren't even accurate. I would question the methods, criteria and the sampling they use and you need to be aware that a large percentage of pollsters are Republicans or have a Republican bias.

Kerry is fighting back and hammering away at Bush. His messages are getting through to people. Stop being amateur campaign managers and start looking at the big picture.

8. I get more positive feedback when I go out into the real world . . .
..with my Kerry button & bumper stickers than I do here. Some day's it's total doom & gloom here & mostly over polls, no less. The only poll that counts is the one on Nov 2. Now, I've gotten a little depressed over the whole Diebold issue, but not over any polls.

I'm also sick of hearing the Kerry isn't getting his message out there. Well, how the heck could you even tell if you are watching network/cable news? They don't/won't cover him, so it appears he's not getting it out there, but he is. The number of Kerry yard signs/ stickers I've seen compared to Bush is phenomenally in favor of Kerry!

Enjoy your break!

9. Go do it. If you're hitting alert that much...
...you might be going batty or anxious or paranoid. There are a lot of people here and it's just their disposition to worry about what's going on. It's probably why they're here instead of somewhere else consuming or ignoring things. That's a much more plausible explanation than "I'm surrounded by FReepers" and if you start thinking that way, you need to take a break.

NOT batty or paranoid! There is an acknowledged influx of freepers and there are also a lot of negative regular DU posters.I am taking a break, but I do resent it being implied that my explanation is somewhat "implausible'.And I wasn't so much worried about freepers as the DUer's that demoralize by eating their own.If anyone thinks that this is not effecting the campaign and voter turnout, they are seriously politically challenged. Many people even on the outside are being negatively impacted by this. That is why I must distance myself! And BTW all of my alerts were tombstoned so I didn't imagine them!

and it is really too bad that positive news is tossed aside while negative crap floats to the top.
