Apparently there's a law in the books as of 1997 that no President after Clinton will have lifetime protection. Starting with Dubya, former Presidents are supposed to be given only 10 years of protection following their Presidency. The law is apparently still a controversial topic that is being reconsidered. I think it would be incredibly foolish of them to enforce this law on Obama given the kind of threats he's been under for the last 2 years and will continue to deal with the rest of his life. Let's hope they change this stupid law back to the way it was or make an exception by the time he leaves office, hopefully in 8 years of course.

2. Of all the Presidents who would need protection for life...

This one will be right near the top of the list. Never mind the usual reasons for assassinating someone (their policies or the assassin is just plain crazy). He's dealing with the weight of 400 years of bigotry that still lingers to this day even after it was outlawed by LBJ and Congress. I hope someone in Congress recognizes this and gets something done by the time Barack leaves office. Hopefully they have 8 years to get this law straightened out, or at least to allow special exceptions.

They will provide him protection for 10 years. I am sure he hopes to be completely forgotten within 10 years. I think he's going to be one of the least publicly active former Presidents that we've seen in quite some time. He's going to try to hide away. Hell, he spent half his Presidency at his Texas ranch in seclusion.

7. Chill out. Secret Service finishes with Junior in 10 years

and someone with a blood feud takes him and his family out (assuming Laura will be anywhere near him, which is doubtful), since Obama will still be being protected (2 years out from the Presidency), the law will be immediately changed.

Junior will have finally sacrificed for the good of his country.
