"If we falter in our leadership we may endanger the peace of the world and we shall surely endanger the welfare of the nation" - Harry S. Truman

Truer words were never spoken. Here then in a few pictures is George Bush's true legacy:

1. Harry Truman would have taken that August 2001 memo and said, "Act on it.. Now."
Truman had many faults, but as George W. Bush goes out into disgrace, at least Harry made a decision - desegregate the military, airlift Berlin. And he was a proud liberal, and rejected those who were mealy-mouthed about being a liberal.

Different times. But, I was born then, and he was as straight and honest man as ever occupied the White House.

In the top 15, in my book.

2. That low???
For my money he's in the top 10 at #8

Abraham Lincoln
Franklin Roosevelt
Thomas Jefferson
George Washington
John Adams
James Madison
Harry S. Truman
Theodore Roosevelt
James Monroe
John F. Kennedy

LBJ would have been in the top 10 had it not been for the Vietnam War. His work on Civil Right's is second only to Lincoln in terms of it's effect on modern day equality and civil rights.

Finally, though he was not President but Martin Luther King, Jr. is for my money the last real Founding Father of our country.
