Bush, Cheney Spar With Mock Debate Foes

By SCOTT LINDLAW
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have been sparring with mock-debate partners since midsummer, getting ready for Democrats John Kerry and John Edwards.

In late July, Bush began practicing with
Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., inside the White House residence, officials said Monday. Gregg also played Al Gore in debate preparation in 2000.

Cheney started debate rehearsal in early August, jousting with

Rep. Rob Portman, an Ohio Republican and longtime Bush family friend.

In practice sessions, Gregg challenges Bush directly, according to a former official who spoke on condition of anonymity because the debate plans have not been completed. Gregg tries to knock the president off balance, the former official said.

1. I thought they were too busy fighting the war on terror?
Oh I guess it isn't really a war then.

This itself (practing for the debates... WTF?) is another thing that should be made an issue.

3. probably
the low soft ball questions......cause if they are hard and to the point..bush will draw out his answer and turn it back to war and terrorists.
