Many of us applauded Obama when it came to gitmo closing
At the same time a good number of us criticized Obama on a wide variety of other topics. The point is we do not want to bring the man down. We are not here to constantly criticize or whine.

Many of us worked for President Obama to get elected because we believed in his message and now we are working very hard to make sure he delivers on it.

You do not do Obama any favors by shutting down the discourse or alienating dissent. This is a freaking democracy and not a dictatorship.

I believe it was Obama who said he wishes that we would hold his feet to fire once he is elected.

1. "We are not here to constantly criticize or whine." That will come as news to some.

2. This type of discourse makes our country work for all of us, and
not just those in private meetings.

3. Obama wants to be challenged, doesn't want a whole bunch of yes men around him
so yes, I agree with you.

4. "...once he is elected."
Which, in political terms, means once he is in office.

All this whaling on him before he's even taken the oath is tiresome, because he is the flip side of a lame duck - he has no office, he has no power.

I have a funny feeling that most those getting paranoid about him are people who were once fooled by W, and are terrified of being fooled again. Relax, people. He's not W.

Let's not worry about holding his feet to the fire until those feet know what the carpet in the Oval Office feels like.

6. And, many on
here don't have anything decent to say about Obama since the primaries and are using this for the contination of the eternal whine.

9. And you don't do anyone any favors by making things up.
Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, is "shutting down the discourse or alienating dissent." What's being complained about is the constant tirade of non-stop screeching, complaints, and attacks directed at Obama over any perception that he'd done anything anyone disagreed with, even when it's completely and totally a misreading by the media, like the DADT situation. People spent a week sniping at Obama over supposedly flip-flopping on Don't Ask Don't Tell, when nobody associated with the administration had even suggested it.

10. The criticism is good, as long as it is constructive.
