Dear Obama, bring back Government Cheese.
An article was just posted in GD about the milk industry suffering from falling demand and prices.

Surely there's a way to help out dairy farmers and those who are having a tough time affording nutritious whole foods like cheese?

What do you all think?

1. That was actually one of my FONDEST memories of the Reagan years...

My grandfather used to get that government cheese and butter.... and that stuff was GOOOOOOOOOD!

Those chunks of govt cheese were 10 times better than anything Velveeta ever made.

on an HBO comedy special. My eyes were watering from laughing so hard. Thanks for the reminder.

7. Only if it tastes better than the crap in the 80s
I was little but I remember it being the nastiest tasting cheese ever. Like they took all the cheese bits that no one wanted and melted them down to form a new brick. And don't try to make anything with it, like a pizza or grilled cheese. Best to just choke it down as-is. Government cheese and government peanut butter. I think they wanted to make people even more miserable than they already were.

Although the peanut butter was great for making cookies.

That said, that "crap" kept us fed so I should probably stop complaining.

11. LOL
Yeah, while I was typing everyone else posted saying how much they loved it and I was like, "...oh." LOL

I'm beginning to think that maybe we just ate too much of it. I remember eating a lot of it and liking it at first and then after a while not liking it.

There is not much use pumping cows full of growth hormone and feeding them the cheapest shit possible which the cows were never meant to live off of, which requires the overuse of antibiotics to fend of the infections caused by the poor diet, if there is too much milk in the supply.

Can't remember the cheese though. Neither can be very healthy for people, either way.
