Seems to be a lot of displeasure with our president elect
he shouldn't do this, he shouldn't do that, wah wah wah wah wah wah wah WAH. he shouldn't say "so help me God" because, lord knows we all didn't know he was a Christian beforehand. Or that he might not make cabinet picks we didn't like (lets be honest with ourselves, there's starry eyed wishful thinking and then theres cold hard reality.)

no politician is perfect. I voted for the man based on his ideas. and until someone has served ONE DAY on the job, there really is nothing to complain about.

I support Barack Obama until he has actually done something in the office of president to remove that support. and until that day, the last thing he needs is fair-weather patriots undermining him when he already has to worry about people advocating his assassination just for the color of his skin, let alone everything else that comes just from being president.

but hey, you know, just remember, you always had other options when you stepped into the voting booth.

2. Surely you're not suggesting that because we didn't vote for McCain-Palin...
...we should stop expressing our opinions about appointments and other choices (like Obama hiring a lobbyist when he ran on having no lobbyists in the WH).

Maybe YOU'RE not going to pay attention until he lives in the WH, but that's silly when he's already VERY OBVIOUSLY on the job.

4. You are over reacting.
Just because someone has a complaint with a decision made by Obama, does not mean that they do not support him.

and until someone has served ONE DAY on the job, there really is nothing to complain about.

Not even close to true. Perhaps you have not heard, but Obama has picked some people to be in his administration. Administration picks, and politicians in general, are subject to scrutiny. Those who believe otherwise are a bit creepy.

8. Quash dissent??? LOL!
Dissent is for when a leader starts a war based on lies. Constant nitpicking, complaining and negativity is tiresome noise.

14. I have been in the DEMOCRATIC PARTY...
...since McGovern. I am very familiar with it. Constant whining, complaining, criticizing is not what we are about....especially toward someone who has done EXACTLY what he said he would do.

Obama has done nothing wrong. You whine because he hasn't done what YOU want him to do. Guess what...I didn't vote for YOU!
But, hey...whine all you want....no need to stop on my account. I don't pay attention to it anymore.

11. I support Obama. I don't support some of his ideas.
In fact I strongly do not support several of his key ideas, and I will continue to activate, organize until I see those ideas changed.

I think that is my right and my duty.

15. There is nobody on this board who does not...
...respect the right of free speech. The constant complaining, whining, about anything and everything, based on opinions and preferences and projections is a waste of free speech and will dilute it's power. What's the point of having free speech if you are not heard because people are tired of listening to you???????

Edited on Sat Jan-10-09 09:42 AM by RichGirl
...which is why I haven't used the ignore option. I'm simply expressing MY freedom of speech.

If something that Obama does results in (repeat RESULTS IN.....not a projection, not an opinion, not a "what if", not a disagreement) RESULTS IN SOMETHING WRONG OR BAD HAPPENING...then I will do all the protesting I can. I will let him know, I will write Letters to the Editor, I will write or call my representatives, I will go to Washington, which I have done many times.

Until that time...I believe the constant complaining by those who think they know more or better than Obama, will weaken our voice if we ever have something REAL to protest. You have to pick your battles and even freedom of speech needs to be used wisely if you want it to be effective.

Very reminiscent of Bush's "we torture less than Saddam Hussein" spiel.

When someone here says McCain would have been a better president you can argue the point but since nobody is saying that the false-choice offered has no meaning.

no matter which candidate was our PE. It's only natural. Plus, this is a discussion board. People are free to whine and criticize all they want. You don't have to like it but that's the way it is. Ignore and hide thread work just fine.

31. True....
...they can whine and complain all they want...I don't care enough to even ignore them.

When they bring up freedom of speech rights it's a little much though. Having the freedom to say whatever you want doesn't mean you need to or that you should. I think a responsible person doesn't just spout off every thought and preference that pops into their head, just because they can. They should consider whether they are CERTAIN or just speculating, projecting, etc...and whether its helpful.

Good example is Cindy Sheehan. She had the sympathy and ear of the whole country and the respect and admiration of most democrats. But, she didn't know when to shut the f*** up! She, like the Code Pink ladys, has made herself ineffective and somewhat of an embarassment. Compare that to Dennis Kucinich. If Obama is making huge mistakes that will surely have horrible results and cause the downfall of this country...why isn't he speaking out????? Does he not know his constitutional right to freedom of speech??? He's a man who will voice a REAL concern even if it's unpopular...but, he is not a criticizer and complainer. There's a BIG difference.

Freedom of Speech doesn't mean a whole lot if nobody is listening. That's the risk you run if you don't self-regulate.

34. Indeed, no politician or 'patriot,' for that matter, is perfect and is
therefore, subject to scrutiny and criticism. It seems that patriots, such as yourself, are suggesting that we be led like lambs to slaughter. Without question. No 'thinking' intellectual would even expect such 'blind obedience.'

McCain-Palin 08 wanted your vote just as badly.

no one forced you to go to the polls

and if you didn't vote, you have no place to bitch and complain.

until obama actually IS president, all your whining and criticizing isn't worth a damn thing.

its the "we know where the WMD's are" argument of the new year.
