IT IS UNWISE FOR DEMOCRATS TO WASH THEIR DIRTY LINEN IN PUBLIC
Edited on Thu Jan-08-09 06:58 PM by bambino
YES I AM SHOUTING

I am sick of hearing the media and the GOP looking for rifts between Democrats.
This is the most important period for Democrats - oh yes, we won the November elections outright - remember November when it was all nice? Remember, we got the House, the Senate and the White House?

Well wouldn't you know here we have Blago, Pelosi, Feinstein, Rockafeller et al without thinking or consulting with their colleagues spouting off to the press at odds with what is being put forward?

We were finally drainng the swamp and now it looks like we are filling it up fast!

Rule 1 - HOLD meetings together before spouting off to the Media. Make sure that every branch of 'government to be' is in unison.

Rule 2 - even if you are pissed grit your teeth.

Rule 3 - There is plenty of time later in the year to tear at each other's throats.

I am extremely appalled. We are Democrats. This is going to be the moment in history where we can actually get out country back. Democrats are shooting each other in the foot!

Whether you agree with Obama and Biden or not - hold your bleeding fire!

1. But Republicans LOVE to see Democrats air their dirty laundry in public.
It absolutely makes their day to see Dems trash one another, especially their newly elected president.

5. Remember how cocky and tough the Republicans were when they had total control?
It is best to remember that nothing is forever and to learn from their mistakes or we will be on the outside looking in again someday.

2. The GOP is in its death throes
and instead of Dems to finish the job and hold the pillow down, we are busy biting ourselves in the heel.

3. Feinstein was barking with what has been termed a "brush-back pitch"
signaling to Obama that he must kowtow to the powerful Democratic chairs.

I find this particular verbiage used in the SF Chronicle interesting because a "brush-back pitch" is always thrown at the opposing team.

I don't recall her throwing any "brush-back pitches" at Junior.

13. Feinstein is Joe Liberman on training wheels.
I have learned to not expect much from her.

Her votes over the course of the last year and half to two years have been a bitter disappointment. She defintely has played as a Bush enabler.

6. I think you are reading the wrong message - Obama comes out and states he prefers to read criticism
of his proposals rather than raves....Reid (clumsily) states that he won't be a rubber stamp.....Kerry (Obama's top senate ally) voices a slight disagreement with one aspect of Obama's tax cuts....Pelosi takes a position to repeal all tax cuts.

The message I'm reading is that Obama WANTS the public to see a completely different president that is GROWN UP enough to handle criticism and opposition FAIRLY. And, aside from Reid's awkwardness, he's pulling it off.

The owls aren't always as they seem.

7. Sometimes it bothers me, other times I think it's a great distraction to occupy the Repubs
...while the Dems do the real work behind the scenes.

Distractions can be quite effective if utilized properly. Utilizing a distraction often looks like chaos to the GP.

10. That's only true because the general public doesn't understand how democracy works

through argumentation and sometimes heated public debate.

I only hope the day comes when "back room" politics can end and we can breath freely in public enough to disagree amicably and operate freely as a self-governing society.

But those hopes are always dashed by the reality you will likely point out in a reply.

:Sigh:...a boy can dream, a boy can dream. Now back to your regularly scheduled private deliberations. Sorry for the interruption folks. Don't let us know you disagreed, we're too weak to understand.

11. That is the what Democrats do
The right to voice dissent is why a lot of folks worked so hard for the Dems in the first place. A lot of folks did not want a top-down, locked in hierarchy wherein everyone is given their talking points and told not to deviate from the script. That practice got us the incompetence and pain of the last few years.

The Democratic Party is a coalition of diverse interests. It is not a programmable entity that can be expected to speak with one voice. That would not be a good thing anyway.

This is what we are. This is a part of how Democrats govern.
