Is Harry Reid turning his lemon into lemon aid?
Like it or not, race does play an important role in our politics. Symbolism also plays a very important role in our politics, and a black person, who would be the only black person in the senate (Burris), taking another black persons seat (Obama), is highly symbolic. It is what it is.

Now I see that Harry wants to put Burris’s acceptance to the senate in front of the full senate for a full senate vote.

I get this picture in my head of all of the Republican Senators voting against Burris, while the Democrats voting for him. Not a good picture for the good old boys from mostly the south.

Politics is stranger than fiction.

6. well - so why does he ignore the lack of ethics with his peers?
He seems to think that Ted Stephens has suffered enough - even though he broke the law and was convicted.

7. Problem with that theory is that it is the republicans who are insisting
that Reid follow the law and seat the guy, and the Dems who are painting Burris as 'tainted' by Blagojevich.

8. yep.
Republicans will vote yes on Burris and the Democrats who don't will look like the racists, not them.
