Dems plan pro-Israel resolution
WASHINGTON (JTA) -- Top Democrats are planning to introduce a non-binding congressional resolution supporting Israel's goal in its Gaza Strip operation.

U.S. Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.), the U.S. House of Representatives majority leader, told JTA he was looking at such a resolution, which is being drafted in the office of Rep. Howard Berman (D-Calif.), the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

"Certainly it would not demand a cease-fire," Hoyer said. "It would speak to the conditions that would justify a cease-fire. A cease-fire is not a just cease-fire when it's just Israel" holding fire.

1. posted- more than once
but I'll say it again: Shameful. Just because the dem party supports virtually whatever Israel does, doesn't make it right. The mass killing of Gazan civilians and the hideously disproportionate response to Hamas/other rocket attacks, needs to be condemned, not given a stamp of approval.

2. I wish they'd devote more time to pushing for peace negotiations on both sides
And yes, that they would ask for a ceasefire.

In a sense it's not my business as I'm not American; but America does have an influence there. Though it doesn't have full power, even if Bush does think he's emperor of the Middle East.

3. Once again proving that no matter which party is in power,
The American government will always be an Israeli lapdog, willing to do whatever it takes to please Israel, and to never, ever criticize Israel no matter how heinous their crimes are.

Of course this really isn't surprising, given that we're living under the two party/same corporate master system of government.
