A few comments about Richardson
1. Glad that he was not selected as the V.P. - a position that he really wanted and campaigned for.

2. Glad that he was not selected as Secretary of State - a position that he really wanted and campaigned for, a position that has to be staffed on Jan. 20.

3. I think that he "escaped" the vetting process because his selection was an affinity selection: to have a Hispanic in the cabinet.

This is what has been so nice about Obama. First, he did not run as a black candidate, even though he got the vote of about 90% - or so - of black voters thanks to the color of his skin. Still, Obama selected most of his team based on their qualifications and experience and on what he considered they could contribute to the team. He did not go out to determine how many women, blacks, Hispanics, Asians, Jews and Muslims he was going to have in his team. Except, I suppose, when all else was equal. But I think that Richardson was selected to satisfy the Latino vote that was important in the elections. And, yes, I remember reading some rumblings about women group not satisfied with the number of women in his cabinet.

It is time to retire these affinity appointments and concentrate on skills which, thankfully, Obama has been doing quite well.

1. Did KKKarl Rove and the US attorney firings have anything to do
with the investigation of Richardson? I believe Richardson that he is totally innocent, and I admire him for putting the image and continuity of the Obama team ahead of his political aspiations.

2. I'm glad he wasn't selected for those positions too
I haven't been a supporter of his since he said we should supply water from the Great Lakes to the southwest.

3. I am glad he was never selected as VP or as SoS but there is a reason he got neither one
Still, I will withhold a final verdict until all evidence is in, we don't know if this is legitimate or not.

4. "Affinity selection?" Other Hispanics in proposed Cabinet: Solis (Labor) & Salazar (Interior).
Richardson was not the only Hispanic Obama nominated for a Cabinet position. So much for your #3.

9. And why do you think that 2 are enough
with all the votes that Obama got from the Latinos?

He has several women, there, too, and yet some women group grumbled that he does not have more women than Bush (or something like that).

We have long passed the stage where interest groups are happy with one token representative.

6. Something happened between the announcement and his withdrawal.
Obama has been meticulous so far, so I'm not inclined to think this was an oversight of the vetting committee.

7. Hold up.........
..... got the vote of 90% of African American voters because of the color of his skin? I'd agree with the fact that that applied to the majority but 90%!!! You just insulted a HUGE chunk of the voting public. ;)

10. Your whole post is BS

First, he did not run as a black candidate, even though he got the vote of about 90% - or so - of black voters thanks to the color of his skin.

First, how does one run as a black candidate?

Secondly, what makes you ASSume Obama got 90% of the black vote BECAUSE of "the color of his skin"? Who do black voters usually vote for, in MOST situations, in MOST elections? What "affinity" GROUP has the highest percentage of Democratic voters in AMERICA?

Your whole OP is a bunch of hot garbage. It makes a lot of stupid assumptions.

11. Secondly, Richardson is more than the color of his skin
You approach this situation as if the only thing Richardson had to offer was a check in the box for Hispanic.

Did you also forget that Richardson was

1. A member of Congress
2. UN Ambassador
3. Energy Secretary
4. Governor of New Mexico

Excuse me, but this type of resume seems to suggest to me he would be qualified for most jobs in this administration. He was a presidential contender himself. Furthermore, his resume is much more extensive then SOME white folks who are currently nominated to Cabinet positions. Why do certain "liberals" get it in their heads that if a minority is chosen for something, it is obviously an attempt to check off a box? I always read this "most qualified" tripe on here, whenever a minority is suggested for a position, as if the two things are mutually exclusive of the other.
