Why do people declare that "it is official, it is Caroline"
when there are no reliable sources for it? Only speculations?

Perhaps the AP writer is reading and can clarify.

3. I should really apologize for posting from HuffPo yesterday that
"It's Official" re Ms. Kennedy. Hate to make an extra thread about it but after closely looking at it, there really wasn't anything official about it. I notice HuffPo and their headlines lately are sometimes quite mis-leading.

4. I suspect they feel certain that just
saying it will make it reality.

This has never been known to work in the history of the world. For example, I keep saying, "It's official, Salma Hayek is going to show up at my door with just a towel on and ask to use my shower", but it hasn't happened yet.

7. There was a story that this "offical"story was linked to the CK Team.
I suspect this is true. None of my family and friends in NY want to see her as Senator, and as someone who is thinking of moving back to my home state, neither do I. She wouldn't have "earned" the appointment in any way.

11. I am not a New Yorker, but I think that she should at least work for this post
Campaign, shake hands, withstand nasty ads against her, debate... Many here tried to compare her to Hillary Clinton in 2000 and to Al Franken now. Both of them without legislative experience, at least campaign. Vigorously. And, of course, have stuck their necks out even before running for office, standing on ideas and deflecting attacks.

8. I think it's as official as Paterson can make it without announcing it,
and he can't do that until the seat is actually vacant, and we don't know when or even if it will be. On top of that the also-rans are still running and it would be rude to be too hasty:

"Congressman who wants Senate seat will visit area Monday"

Rep. Steve Israel, a Long Island Democrat who has made no secret of his desire to succeed Hillary Rodham Clinton as New York’s junior senator, is coming to Utica Monday to meet with area officials.

Good luck with that, Steve! :hi:

who, like Hillary, has yet to be confirmed.

13. BS. The "leak" was from Caroline's folks. Paterson denies this.
There is no reason for Caroline to be Senator. She doesn't vote much, doesn't donate to any local or state campigns, isn't involved with the party, and has no politcal credibility. The facyt that she campaigned a bit for Obama puts her in the same catagory with other NY celebs who supported him and they aren't entitled to be Senator either.
There is a huge list of eligable NY politcians who are electable and who have earned consideration based on the merits.

14. Some people think that "truth" is only available at "progressive" blogs.
Look at some of the links DU'ers use to prove the veracity of things they post...

BREAKING: IT'S OFFICIAL! Progressive Dems are sometimes like the blind leading the deaf!
