Do you think Obama has looked over the table at Michelle and asked
her "what the hell were we thinking?"

I was just reading various posts and the number of problems that need to be dealt with all at the same time and I have to wonder why anyone would want that job. Especially the way it all fell apart right there in late Sept/early Oct - just before the election.

I have to think the only sane response was, at some point, a question of "is it too late to turn back now?"

10. Please. He's still a human being.
Meanwhile, the peak of Mt. Feces keeps climbing higher and higher into the stratosphere every day in this country.

I think there'd have to be something wrong with him if he didn't take a look at it all and want to hit the reset button at least once in a while.

2. I think like that but I think Obama is cut from a different cloth,
he doesn't seem to get rattled and crazy like I do. His mindset probably doesn't allow him to think of all the problems and crap going on the way I do. I guess that's a good thing.

4. I'm just SOOO happy that it all came undone BEFORE January 20, 2009
And I think even if it hadn't the Obamas knew they'd have a lot of work to do.

But, lot's of work to do means lots of opportunity to make meaningful change.

It's all about the change.

8. Don't you think the neocons...
...believed that they could prop up all of their damage throughout Jan 09?

I think they thought that they could destroy everything (economy, democracy, foreign policy, education, etc), but
still retain a shellacked venner that made everything appear normal.

It seems pretty clear that they planned for the shineola to hit the fan during a Democratic administration--so they
could blame the Democrats

The entire thing has collapsed and it's clear that it is their fault.

As evil and devious as we think the neocons are--they are exceedingly stupid and I can't name one of their
evil masterminds that hasn't collapsed into a comedy of errors.

19. The collapse of the economy has one sliver of a silver lining: it happened before the election...
Thank the gods for that. We knew it was coming. The giant sucking sound we heard was the great wave pulling out to sea -- and then, the tsunami came at us. Dammit, so many people saw this disaster coming. I think Shit-for-Brains thought he and his cronies would be able to get out of Washington and on to high ground before it happened so that they could mock the new presidency as somehow being responsible for all of it.

I also think that Obama's and McCain's very different responses helped tip the balance of the election.

5. I've thought the same thing, but I don't think the Obamas have.
I think he enjoys the challenge and unraveling the mess he is left. Bush has done such a poor job, Obama is going to shine, no matter what he does to improve it. He can keep his cool more than anyone I can recall knowing in my entire life.

What we have to remember is that we promised to watch his back...to support him. He isn't going to wave a magic wand and have everything turn out OK. It is going to take as much or more time to clean up the mess than it did to make it in the first place.

If Congress or the media don't work with him, we should zip off an email and remind them we're all in this together and to pull their share of the load. God knows, they have a pretty hefty share to pull. We aren't going to get this wagon over the finish line unless everyone is pulling in the same direction. Obama has shown he deserves our cooperation!

11. There's a lot a problems in the world. Not trying to solve doesn't make them go away.
:banghead:

I never got this mindset where people say, "who'd wanna be president with all these problems Bush is leaving behind him?" Duh. Read about life in the Gaza Strip and then tell me it can't get a whole lot worse if people of good will don't get involved.

Besides, whoever's president gets to live in a really cool house, rent free!

12. I'm sure that over the last two months
as the election results have sunk in, they've had thoughts like that. The country has never been in a bigger mess. Just think of the difference between taking over the presidency in 2001 and 2009. And with the war in Gaza, its even worse.

18. I bet once or twice in the middle of the night he's woken up,
shook Michelle awake and said, "I just had the CRAZIEST dream..."

And she shook her head and said, "Honey, I hate to break it to you, that wasn't a dream."
