kathy griffin teaches anderson cooper some manners.
watching anderson cooper's new year countdown show, kathy had to correct him when he said "bill and hillary clinton" would throw the 2009 switch at midnight est.

kathy says "bill and hillary? how 'bout mr. president?!"

anderson stood corrected.

kathy's great!

not that I'm offended by the familiarity in using first names - I'm not. Just thought I would add another appropriate address?

9. If you haven't had a chance to see Kathy in concert
and you don't mind cussing.....she is damned funny. We saw her in Seattle in November and I laughed my ass off....she says out loud what we are thinking.

I think Anderson doesn't really know how to take her sometimes...

It would do a lot of good, and I think his career can take it, IMO.

18. he is actually out , but he doesn't make mention of it in public
and i don't mean in wanting to publicly discuss it but it seems like he goes out of his way to avoid making any mention of it. he did once slip and say "us" or "we" when talking about gay rights, but it was by accident for sure.

and this is what i thought of when he had those criticisms of Rachel Maddow and whether he has issues with her more open with who she is.

19. OK, that makes sense.
Cause I could have sworn there was an article about him in the Advocate a couple years ago, but now it seems he's semi-closeted again...? But maybe not. You can't put the toothpaste back in the tube. I can understand him not wanting to be The Gay News Anchor, tokenism and all that. But, dude, pride is a good thing, that's why there are parades for it, y'know?

Edited on Thu Jan-01-09 02:56 AM by Cash_thatswhatiwant
out. She said that in some countries, if you go over there, they're not as open to gay people as some are in the United States. I mean it means death in some countries. I think she was really referring to why Anderson doesn't come out publicly. He may think if he goes overseas to a very traditional country he may not be safe.

36. Or he prefers to keep his personal and professional life separate
and it is really no one's business. It were different if he had incorporated homophobic remarks on his show, or let homophobic guests spread their bile. But otherwise it really is no one's business.

21. Rachel's proving you can be out without being pigeonholed
My honest opinion is she just has more courage and is more concerned about gay equality than he is. And that does make me dislike him. If Rachel can do it, he can.

27.  I know ... I can't watch her either.
Ever since she was RuPaul's "co host" on Ru's VH-1 show (seems like a hundred years ago) ... Griffin's voice and abrasive, bitchy manner makes me cringe.
